Accuracy

Ok I am going to be a little long winded on this if you want to read then have at it. Coonhunters and there dogs is comparing dads to there kids at little league fields. Everyone thinks none of them do no wrong. About 1 year ago I put the whole accuracy debate to the test. Now before we get in to this lets factor in there will be alot of varibles. In general a dog is going to be more accurate in Northern Indiana where woods look like fields with trees in them and coon population is high vrs deep in the south when cut in flooded timber with thin coon and mountains with clifts. Its going to very time of the year,also the time of night, ect ect ect. Now some dogs are less accurate in thick coon. YOU GET MY DRIFT. Now I can go in my backyard tonight and shine a tree, I HATE A DOG THAT JUST SHOWS ME TREES it takes accurate son of a gun to please me but i'm realistic. A dog thats going to tree alot of coon where I live is just going to miss some. They are going to tree some coon in den, they are going to get in funks, and probably going to have a certain time of the year where they miss a little more than I would like. My main factor is some dogs just consistanly get treed and have them. I would say in my area a dog that finished every track at the right end would have 7 on the outside 1 to 2 den(a dog making alot of dens is backtrackin guarantee you that) and maybe one tree that the coon hides good and don't look. OK I TOOK 5 OF THE MOST WANTED FINAL 4'S TO BE IN. Let them make no excusses b/c a score card was on them. Out of 41 times these dogs were struck in declared treed and scored they were plused up 16 times. 39% Now if you interviewed all those handlers handling them hounds how many of them would have answered the question on there dogs accuracy with 39%.lol Now I have a little blue english female shes a winner and this is not a brag but I have followed her about 1 year now. I have seen her make 17 stright with meet found and 13 strait before. She's the most accuarte i've walked behind but she is just a dog and she will slick tree. Certain times of the year I would say you will find 70% other times not so good. But I would say she about a true 60% dog and only followed one other like her in about 25 years of hard hunting. This subject is going to very on how people rate accuracy my thing is if you don't see it HOW DO YOU KNOW ITS THERE. I'm in search of perfection but just have come to realize it is not out there. Think of this how many 80-90 percent accurate dogs are forsale on the internet for 1500-3000$. Now if a man had a dog that would show them 80-90 coons out of 100 snaps at this price why don't there hunting buddy by it? This subject will always have varibles and I could see where a dog got to crankin and be unbelevable accurate for a while but if you followed them long enough you would see there just a dog. If your experianced houndsman you should know if you got a accurate hound. If it suits you then who cares. If you want a bigtime winner they have to tree coon and hold there points (NO MATTER THE KC) there hunted in. The only way for one to do this is to go hunting get treed STAY no matter what and finish tracks the right way consistanly. This is not to start a arguement with anyone its just an observation supported with a little facts. I know some are going to disagree with me and that is fine. I do not know everyting but if people would be more realistic with there hounds we could better our hounds.
