Young pup showing signs of being aggressive
Has anyone ever corrected a young dog that was showing signs of being mean on the tree? If so, what seems to work?

Well im reluctant to do much to him right now because he is just getting started but he started a fight on the tree last time out. I thought about not hunting him with another male until he gets a little further along but was just curious if there is good proven way that might not hinder his progress on treeing coons.

You sir Mr. Hill are an idiot. I have encountered way more rough dogs in UKC than PKC. Just because a dog in PKC is most likley not a pack dog like UKC does not make him mean. You are 1 dumb uninformed individual!!!!!!!!!!
If hes real young you might change him, start by makeing him share his feed, if he so much as turns a lip at another dog beat the snot outa him, anytime he even looks crossways at another dog make him regret it. Put him in any situation you can think of that might make him jealous or possesive and if he shows even the slightest bit of aggression beat his a$$.
Might not work but you have nothing to loose, hes useless if hes mean.

i had a young female that was like that and i penned her up with my older male and made them share the same food bowl next time out she was just as friendly on the tree as any other dog

i found a lot of my problem was my fear of letting my male dogs mingo with each other. after i started walking them together, feeding them just nose to nose a way from each other, budding them up and not being afraid it helped a lot! don't be afraid to let males mingo with males, if you do then you will never fix the problem. when a male never interacts with another males things go bad....dominance starts to kick in, he needs to feel like he isnt alpha dog, he needs to be knocked down a peg or to, take care of that part yourself....

So far so good. I have been making him share food and other things. Seems to be working. Im kinda hard headed so im gonna make the effort before i give up.
If Ceasar can do it surely us as houndsmen can too.

when they find out that other males are friendly and happy it tends to let them put there guard down. pretty soon they interact socially at a respectful level. now if this was a 5 year old dog, there would be no hope and i would say get rid of him cause he will infect your kennel, but pups are trainable to know what is acceptable and what is not.

we all dont have the luxury of culling a dog and getting a new one. a good trainer can make a piss poor dog look like a million dollars. depends on how much effort you want to put into the training. some ppl fight for what they want, others just quit, im no a quitter and i dont think this guy is either.....no offense to you, we all have had different experiences, mine have been good with good out comes. nothing i currently own have this issue, but back in the day i did and it worked out good....

That's how we all learn, good luck.
i do want to add, if this line you are hunting has problems like this then i would look at doing something different for a dog, certain lines carry the fighting in them
ive seen excellent dogs that have never not been a gentlmen for 7 years and all of a sudden snap on another dog....they are dogs, never under estimate them, they are a animal.

Let's look at this another way. Perfectly good tree dog, not a mean bone in him, and a well mannered gentlemen,in every way.
Now here's the question. Could you train this dog to be mean on tree ?

Whatever you do go ahead and neuter him. Then if you can't stop the fighting at least he can't be bred to pass it on. It won't hurt his hunting ability. I have one of those dogs.
Not saying I know it all cause I learn something new all the time and I've been around hounds for 30 plus years but I will say this you can make a dog mean. Defending it's self is one thing but cleaning other dogs off a tree cause other dogs maybe crowding him or in his space and not face barking or putting fang to them is whole other bag worms. I've seen it done. So I'll leave at that.
