DC 50 Bark detection
A buddy of mine has a dc 50 on one of his coyote hounds not only for the longer range but also the bark detection for when they run out of hearing. I thought this would be a cool feature for the coon hounds on windy
nights and in the hills where i cant always here my hound at 300-400 yds so i dumped my dc 40s, which worked well for me, and bought a coulple of the 50s. First night i used one of the 50s the dog was only 50 yds away and it kept saying she was barking and she was not. I have the bark detector set to show treed after 20 barks a minute and it went off not to long after when the dog was not even barking. later in to my hunt my dog struck a track and treed but it only showed the barking symbol bout 3 times and never did come up that she was treed in the ten minutes she was treeing. I have another 50 that i tried on a different night with similar results. last couple of night ive been out and it has not went off when the dog is not barking but will not show the bark symbol only every 20 barks or so when she is trailing. Treed 3 times one night and it never did show up that she was treed while barking about 90 barks a minute and i have itset to show treed at 20 barks a minute. Tried the second 50 again on another night with pretty identical results. Im running a sport dog hound hunter shock collar as well on the dog. i have tried running the shock collar above and below the 50 on the dog and have not seen a difference one way or another.
The 50 my buddy has on his coyote dog works very well on his 320 and my 320 as well so it has to be the collars. He is also running the same shocking system. Anyone have any ideas? Just seems weird that i have 2 50s that are not performing._
Mine works flawlessly!

Thanks for the imput. ive heard good things about the bark detection and seen it work flawlesly as well. Anyone else have issues that have been resolved like what ive posted?

Dusty, I think you are confusing the dog alerts with the Bark indicator.
Bark indicator tells you that they are barking and when there barks exceed the preset number you put in. You will then get an alert, depending on the alert you selected.
When a dog trees it will show your dog treed on the screen has nothing to do with the bark indicator.

There are two things you have to turn on.
1. The bark indicator
2. Alert settings. Without alert settings it will never work, you will just have a picture of a dog.
Mine will show black bars in the white area beside the dogs head when my dogs are barking. It will show more and more bars in this area the more the dog barks once the dog has reached the limit you have set it pops up a alert that says dog is barking x times a minute.
The tree indicator has nothing to do with the bark indicator. Make sure you have your collars set to tree dogs. Also you may have your collar set at to low of a bark setting I keep mine on 80. Also you may want to make sure your collars and handheld have the latest updates form Garmin. I got my 320 and 50's in December and Garmin has released 2 or 3 updates for the 320 and dc 50 collars since then. I had a problem with one of my 50's dropping satellite signal and it would not communicate with the hand held ( I could go to identify dog unit and it would always give an error message) the second update they released fixed my issues. Also make for sure that you have your bark detection on it can be turned off. Hope this helped...

I have had a similar problem. Mine used to work perfect for dogs barking. Now all of a sudden it pops up the alert that the dog is barking 20 barks a min and I know the dog is not because he will be well within hearing. Just started recently and after the software update it still does the same thing.
Went to garmin website and did updates on my 320 and both dc50s today. Am planning on trying them out tonight and see if my problems are resolved.
