why are we on the news ??? whats up ???
I dont know details I didnt see the whole story but it dont look good at all. Something about a law about coonhunting ?????
Here is the info:
http://www.moultrieobserver.com/loc...osal-draws-fire
Jason its about bb 423 or something to that affect. It deals with having a live coon in a cage for treeing contests and such at coon hunts. The antis are throwing a little fit over it. I shall post the info yall need to email or call if your in support of this bill. Might as well run with it now. See if we can defeat the idiots. I would have posted it already but forgot.

Keep Calling The committee meets tomorrow around 9AM!The anti's are back at it the sooner we get it up for a vote the better. This bill overwhelmingly passed the house now we need it through the senate! Local TV ads are running against the bill. We need a push of calls and E-mails to get is on the floor for a vote! This is a chance for us to take back our hunting rights!!
Call Lt. Governor Casey Cagle 404-656-5030 office and ask the same thing to call HB 423 for a vote and continue to call Senator Ross Tolleson 404-656-0081 (ross.tolleson@senate.ga.gov) and ask him to call for a vote on HB 423 and to vote yes on its passage. HB 423 makes provisions in Georgia law that would allow live coon in a cage to be used at sanctioned field trial events.
Here is the Natural Resources Committee 1. Rick Jeffares (404) 651-7738 2. Bill Cowsert (404) 463-1383 3. Ross Tolleson (404) 656-0081 CHAIRMAN 4. Frank Ginn (404) 656-4700 5. I just have to go there you are in Georgia your state is totally controlled by republicans and they call themselves conservatives call ted nugent maybe he would help or someone famous that wants on the news good luck
We don't have time for major stuff like that. This is about us versus them. Them being the anti hunters now. Nothing to do with republicans or Dems. If your a coon hunter. Your either with us or your not. No party line involved. Anyone on here can email these folks and tell them to pass 423. Maybe some will. Personally I have no need for it but if its what my Ga hunting friends want. Im with em just because we all need to stick together. Its now a little more than a coon in a cage deal. Specially if they get their way.

As most of you on here already Know, The Membership of the Georgia Federation of Coonhunters Over whelminly passed a do not support vote of this in 2013. The leaders of the Georgia Hunting and Fishing Federation, a totally different org. with their roots firmly planted in the deer hunting mode has managed to by pass the wishes of the state's real coon hunting organization and get this bill through the house in 2014. It is doing exactly what we were against, and that is drawing un needed attention to a sport that does not need this bill to conduct the
competition it now runs. Will we as a group come out and try to stop the senate from passing said bill no. We as an organization are not into the cut throat, back stabbing of other groups for the pleasure of doing so. If it passes, and it will, we as coonhunters here in this state have drawn very unneeded and unwanted eyes upon us,,,, but wait, the coonhunters did not want nor did they ask for this bill. Nothing but bad can come to the competition side of this sport from passing such a bill in the long term. Short term, it looks good on The President and chairman's resume' of the hunting and fishing federation. Look we did for you guys, when in fact, us guys voted that we did not want. Way to go Reggie. My hat is off to you. To say you represent all in the world of hunting in fishing in this state is no longer true. We now see and can prove it is not true.
The OFFICAL position of the GEORGIA FEDERATION of COONHUNTERS, the UKC Chartered Association, is we do not support this bill, for the reasons such as what this tread is all about, and many more that were brought out in the 2013 meeting in Tifton. This one was snuck by us and I don't i even recieve emails from the other organization anymore, even though i am a paying member....well was until now. Time will tell how this plays out, but it can only hinder the real coonhunters. Truth be known, this bill is a pay back bill for folks up in your area Micheal to be quite on the deer baiting bill passed 2 years ago for the southern zone. POLITICS at work...even in ur sport. SHAMEFUL of them to totally disregard the wishes of the very ones who would use it most, the UKC chartered clubs.

I am a coonhunter in Georgia and Rock Johnson nor the Georgia Federation of Coonhunters DOES NOT represent me nor would I like them to represent my sport of Coonhunting.
One meeting with barely 20 people present hardly represents the Coonhunters of the State of Georgia
I will choose to support this HB 423 bill and continue to support The Georgia Hunting and Fishing Federation
I will send E-mails to all in the Natural Resources Committee Lt. Governor Casey Cagle & Governor Deal thoroughly stating Rock Johnson nor The Georgia Federation of Coonhunters Represents me as a Coonhunter or as a Voting Sportsman of the State
fine with me
I'm a Coonhunters in Ga and Rock Johnson does not speak for me. I don't see a problem with the clubs benefiting from it.

It's out their now Rock. So the federation should go ahead and support it. Like I said. My club does not even have these kinds of events but some around do. If they want it. Im with them. I've never saw a federation member at my club or theirs asking what they wanted either. If you don't think dog hunting is already in the eyes of the anti hunting bunch. Your living in a dream world. Let's see if we can defeat them!

Folks it is not up for argue with me, or any board member. I said we would not, and haven't tried to stop it. If it goes through, good. Fact of of the mmatter remains the same. The other fact is no one from this organization knew it was coming up to be able to peacefully talk to anyone on the hunting and fishing org about it. We do not have the time or money in this org, to hire a lobbyist like the other one does. Fact ere is this org has suppoeted the other with money to keep the lobbyist they have to do good for all hunters in Georgia. Samh well knows the struggles that we have in this org, as he was n officer in it for a few years. I don't personally care one way or the other, accept that if you think TV and publicity of the kind i am told is happening now in othher areas is good, well you are very sadly mistaken. As far as coming to a club and begging ou to come on board, that will not happen. Our members hunt all over this state, and we have grown in leaps and bounds for 3 years running. We will continue to try our best to do what is right for all hunters in the state, especially the comp. hunter, which is the only one hurt by this. You guys know very well that field trial and water races have been conducted for years without such a law, and could and would continue without it. It just draws unwanted attention to an already declining fan bases. Support who and what you will. This is America, and we all have that right. Beat me up as you will, but when the day is done, i can look in the mirror, as can all the GFCH members who support their org can, and say we firmly believe we are right, and time will tell the tell. From the looks of it, It is not even a law yet, and the anti's are all over it. Do we really want that, when it is not a necessary change? Make up your mind. You already have. So have i and lets leave it there. I simply stated the position of the GFCH and its membership on this bill. There is and always will be disagreements, and that is good. You folks have a wonderfull day and lets all hope that when you get this passed and you will, it helps and does not kill a sport we all love.

To each his own
Late Nite Tryst Don't know you and have never met U I don't think BUT one thing for sure because U do not belong to the Federation there is no way U can be represented by them for sure, SO if U are so informed by the needs of the coon hunters in GA why would you not want to pass along your vast knowledge to that group of people at their meeting's. And by the way Rock Johnson is speaking for a group of people who discussed and voted on their wishes about this situation.
Now let me ask this question what is the Georgia Hunting and Fishing Federation? never heard of them and don't know that I want them representing me any more than U want the Federation representing U. ........... so there U go TO EACH HIS OWN..........
While reading Your post it looks like you have a bur under your saddle about Rock Johnson while he may or may not be the best thing since sliced bread he is only speaking for a group of people who have made their wished known.
IN CLOSING IF U OR ANYONE ELSE THINKS THAT HAVING A LIVE COON AT A LOCAL CLUB IS THE ANSWER TO BRING BACK ATTENDANCE THINK AGAIN.
All of this is just my opinion and yesser I am a board of director member of the Federation and STAND BY OUR RECOMENDATION ON THIS BILL. H L Meyer is the name and Yep I do have a phone so just call.

I paid my dues to the Federation in 2013 never heard another thing from them and chose not to continue my support
quote:Same here cept not in 2013. It very well should be and could be a great organization but its not. See theys rather argue with us here about a coon cage law than actually get on the horn and try and help. That's just how I see it but this ain't about them anyhow. Email these folk and tell em your for Hb 423. Do it now!!!!

Hb423 just passed the senate committee & will go to senate floor for vote
Really? Coonhound Federation doesn't support a bill about coonhunters???
This blows my mind that the GEORGIA FEDERATION OF COONHUNTERS does not support a bill that will allow clubs to legally use a coon if they choose to or not. (Remember, they don't have to if they don't want to) What it does for a club is, if they have these events, they will get many more entries since many won't bark at a dead hide. As far as the GHFF not contacting or asking the GFCH for permission or discussion...They recieved the answer from you and the wishes of roughly 20 members voted in a organization of roughly 70 members, but their membership is roughly 7,000 members (which is a little better representation of Georgia hunters I believe). Not quite sure how the chairman of the board and elected officials are supposed to act as 2 independent governing bodies as a checks and balance system, yet the president is also chairman of the board...but that's another issue all together. Those guys support us coonhunters. The waycross hunting expo has a coon hunt and bench show all ran by the GHFF.
I am happy as a coonhunter that these people are fighting for me. Not only to maintain my hunting rights, but to try to expand on them. Don't plan on the anti's to send you a email either when they try to push a bill through. As the president and as a organization, these should be issues that are kept up with. Unless all you care about is putting on a state hunt, then your oppinion really doesn't matter anyways since a majority of your membership only comes from that one event since they can't be crowned state champion without being a member.
Just my opinion. Everybody has one, but I think the GHFF has a well written bill that they have my support on. The fight about the anti's is NOT going to end whether you sit in the corner cowardly or try to expand your rights/laws. I refuse to sit in silence and hope they don't realize I'm here.

How do you think a coon would get to these clubs? No trapping licens ! U violate State Law. Transport little old coon to event again! U violate State law. I want people to keep this thought in the back of their mind. " There is more to this bill than meets the eye". I will bet money if this bill pases in the long run it will hurt us bad, real bad.
