I think I'm going and packing Jake. Take me about 30-40 minutes to get there. I only hit 1 hunt in 2013 and it's time to try finish Jake out if I can lol.

Anybody ever hunted down there?Ive road quads down there and if I had to guess the coons are very thin down there.

Good question, I don't wanna drive 4 hours 1 way for thin coons.

Just depends on who you draw out with. I don't know if the distemper got those coon across the river but they should be moving good this week with all of the warm weather we are getting. I think they were some scored last year around 600-700 brought in that won it. We had 350 and did no good. So you never know.

LoL.Id have to witness that kinda score down there to believe it.Most hunting up this way has not been good for months.Not sure what happened but coons are scarce in most spots.I hope this warm weather brings coons out everywhere cause I'm ready.Where is this hunts info posted?

Ironton Ohio

Coon population around Southern Ohio is not to bad,we have more coon than we ever had but not nothing close to Northern Ohio. The warm weather there forecasting really should make it a good night hopefully the snow will all be gone. Coon really should be moving good and should be in full rut, the weather has been bad here just like every where else and this warm spell should really have coon moving, hope to see a good turn out and everyone get over their cabin fever!!

Goshen is some off the best coon hunting around here just not many giving permission.Im gonna try and be at Owensville Friday night. Good luck and post your scores.

If I go I sure will. We hunted in the middle of no where in Goshen. We hunted by a gravel road with patch woods on a cast and hadn't seen a car all night and here came a van wide open flying down that road and hit a boys dog that night. Hit it so hard it knocked his eyes out of his sockets. We pulled into a field one drop where the corn had been cut and seen eyes in the field. My first thought was deer every where cause that's the way it is in the few bottoms back home but it wasn't no deer it was coon. I've never seen so many coon in my life. I won my cast that night with 750+. Should have had around a 1,000 or more. Jakes daddy wouldn't tree with the dogs first drop or the rest of the hunt and I got shut out on the first coon scored and the last drop I treed him and the judge looked at his watch and said I'm sorry that tree don't count, the hunt was over 5 minutes ago. It wasn't according to my watch we still had 5 minutes left. The cast voted against me and cost me +225 and a 1st in Nt.ch at walker days that night. One of the rudest cast of people I ever drew out with. My dog split from the cast the whole night and stayed out of trouble.that was back around the early 2,000,s when it was held at Whitley co. I think right out of Ft. Wayne.

Hunt

Our coon are better than we use to have. Yes we have had good scores in the past but low ones to depends on who you cast with sometimes 2or3 coons up to5or6 but don't no how the coons are moving right now this is the first week we have got to hunt since the weather got bad. Hunt

Thanks agin to all who hunted the hunt Fri and Sat. We had a great turn out both nights BS and Nite Hunt. We had some really good scores both nights 425 to 850 some lower. Congratulations to Chris Cordal for winning first place Nite Ch and over all high scoring dog and winner of the hunt with one Nite score of 850 plus. Good job Chris and your nice Walker hound. Thanks agin to everyone for the support Happy Hunting Southern Ohio Coon Hunters Ass.

Glad to hear y'all had a good turnout and score.I went to Owensville and guided my cast.We ended up with 800+.Backwater Homer won it all and beat me like a drum.LOL

Drove 7 hours to donate and visit with some friends killed two birds one stone...least I won my cast last night 675+ it was fun while it lasted! Congrats to the winner!

Thanks. They are a lot of English guys over at Ironton and the ones I know and have hunted with were always good guys and have never heard them blow their dogs out of the water especially when they won it all last year. That's why I like it over there. A lot of good honest people over there hunting. I just got lucky and got a brake and Jakey made em climb.
