I owned the Big Bud dog and had Breeze down here to breed her to Bud. Wayne Hanson owned Breeze at the time and I never got to hunt with her. Wayne told me she was a very nice hound. I believe Breeze raised 7 or 8 pups off of Bud. Stargal was on of them. That was a very good cross and there are still a few good ones off of that cross. Scott Kaprivnac in PA has one he calls Bandit that is a very nice hound, I've hunted with him several times and he's the real deal. Bandit is all blue also.
As far as Bud, I got him off of Tom and Renae Ehlenbach in PA as a pup. Bud was the most natural dog I ever owned in my 40+ years of hunting. He was about 80 lbs and all blue in color. Bud had the best mouth on a hound that I ever owned. He reproduced very well until his untimely death of 7 years. I was letting Wayne Hanson hunt him in Ohio when he got hit and killed by a car. Bud had no reverse in him and the overwhelming majority of the pups off of him was the same way, regardless of what he was bred to. I still have a pup here off of Bud and Wayne Hanson's Buttercup female. I call him Mountain State Big Buzz. Buzz was born the night Bud got killed. Bud was very heavy in Morris' Blue River Boomer breeding.
Bill in Maine can tell you more about the cross he made on Stargal. I have spoke with him several times and he seems to be strait up and truthful. Hope this helps, good luck and feel free to pm me or call me anytime.
