Basically there is a big coon hunt and the winner wins the cash prize, a famous music singer comes to town with their high powered dog to win it about the same time the Revenuers show up to close down the moonshine stills, these plots manage to mix well for a silly comedy loosely based around a coon hunt.

Not coonhunting, but a great foxhunting movie, and an even better book - The Voice of Bugle Ann

This is an older black and white movie, the book was GREAT, and the movie is OK. In this movie a pup survives her mothers passing and lives to be the best fox dog in the area, then trouble moves in and puts up a wove wire fence...threats ensue and Bugle Ann disappears, several twists later and the movie finally ends on a good note. This one has more hunting that the soggy bottom movie and is more realistic.

The Twilight Zone

Has a great episode called THE HUNT, it is about a coonhunt gone bad, the ending has a twist that makes you realize that it is important to trust your faithful hound.
