best cross in history?

Please dont make this a bashing post, haters please do not respond. Please respect the opinions of others.

In your opinion, what is the best cross in history? Why? And what did it produce (ie # of grnitech/nitech/reproducers)?

Here is one pretty good one: Gr Nt Ch T-Top Rat X Gr Nt Ch T-Top Raven
Gr Nt Ch T-Top Rabble Rouser was out of this cross and he produced 15 Gr Nt Ch's......
Gr Nt Haze....who produced 2 Gr Nt Ch's and 5 Nt Ch's
Gr Nt Deepwoods Rocky....who has produced 3 Nt Ch's
Gr Nt Moose....who has produced 1 Nt Ch
Gr Nt Crosscountry Deuce.....who has produced 2 Nt Ch's
Gr Nt Fickens Grateful Dead Red.....
Gr Nt Grizz
Gr Nt South Skunk Cidderella

Gr Nt Raven produced 4 Gr Nt Ch's and 7 Nt Ch's...I don't know how many of these were sired by Rat but Rabble had several Gr Nt full brothers.

Another pretty good cross would have to be the Bomber X Bell cross that produced Gr Nt Raven and Nt Ch Bomber's Red Wire who produced 4 Gr Nt Ch's and 2 Nt Ch's herself.

There was another pretty good cross...... Arnold's Red Warrior II X Arnold's Little Girl. It produced the great Gr Nt Ch Ashviews In It To Win It Reba.

There are a lot of very good crosses that could be listed. I will let someone else list a few of them.

Timber Chopper x Millers Valley Liz
........look back in 5th-7th gen. of many hunting producing males and females and this cross was the fountain head many times.

This would just be a lot of different peoples opinion. I could tell you that I made a cross in the 1970's that there were 8 pups and they all made above average coon dogs but they all were owned by pleasure hunters that never went to a competition hunt. That would be just my story with no proof so most people wouldn't believe it.

So with that being said now days about the only thing that we have to go by is the reproducers list. So if you just go by these numbers one of the best cross would have to be GrNiteCh Hayes Ramblin Red Ace X Hayes Ramblin Red Kate there were two litters with 14 pups total and 11 made NiteCh.

I made the Ace and Kate crosses and hunted with most of the dogs from this cross. They made nice hounds with some of them winning some of the bigger Redbone hunts and some state championships. I was lucky the pups went to hunters that competition hunted and 11 of 14 did make nite champions. I don't know if it was the best cross ever. It depends on what type of hounds you like but I know it worked and I sure didn't have any trouble getting them sold.

Hey Rob, good to see you on the message board. Don't hesitate to share some of the history and knowledge you have of the Redbone breed.

Tell us how many 2nd place wins and points ole Kate had but never got lucky enough to get a 1st and that happened to a lot of dogs back in those days.

Thanks Danny. Just got registered and am learning my way around the site. I will pitch in when I can.

Kate had, if I remember right, 3 second place wins and between 200 and 300 points. She was a good hound but I wouldn't classify her as a great hound in the woods but boy was she a reproducer. Not only did the Ace cross work but after Ace died I bred her to Hennings Chief and got great results (ie. Hoffmeisters Brandy, Turpins Thunder). What she might have lacked that kept her from being a great hound she made up in her desire to please me. She was a sweet hound to own.

That night with Terry Finder and you in that bottom land that was standing corn on standing water and you had old Zack and that puppy I will always remember. I have never seen so many coon and hounds treeing all over the place That was a "Fun" time.
