Sterling Run English kennels

Figured it was time to update my Kennel thread. Alot has happened and ill start off with the backbone of my kennel.
NtCh Barbers Hardtime Mawley. she was purchased to be pushed hard in the hunts, well i never got that part done for her. When she was 9 i started running her in the hunts, my son put her in a few, my buddy did too. Cause i was working alot of overtime. I knew she was an awesome coon treeing machine so made the time to push her i put her in 3 hunts never lost a cast. Made her ntch with 2 firsts and a 2nd. Heres her pedigree

I bred her to my old dog Barbers Hardtime jed. they all made good old country coondogs. but i felt like she was capable of much more. A lil over 2 years ago i bred her to Ch Grntch Rhoads Tri County Slammer. she had 7 pups 6 lived and kept track of most of them. the ones well placed turned out according to how they were worked. A buddy of mine has a female and pleasure hunts her and has been pleased so far another female was going strong and i heard she had a heat stroke after a hunt and eventually died. I had a male i kept well he didnt turn out tried my patience to much but you never know he could have been awesome but didnt get the chance. Im looking for certain things and if i cant see it early no since in waiting my time. Another male came up missing. One more male someone gave up on. i kept a female and Tim Rhoads has a female. My female was coming on like crazy and something ran her off a tree one night and she just hasnt been the same. She is still alive and well but not being hunted at the moment. And Tims female he calls her Ugg. she is an awesome lil hound i have put her in a couple hunts for him, 1st hunt she won her cast but it was all circle points the next cast i put a 3rd on her and Tim already put a 1st on her. I have had the pleasure of hunting with her alot this season and last saturday we had a pound hunt that lil dog treed the crap out of them coons .So there is 2 females out of Slammer and Mawley we still have high hopes for.

The next cross I made was with Doug Terrell's Grntch Backyard Limited Edition Le
She had 5 pups 3 lived 2 was born dead. She had a tough time because she is 10 now. But raised the 3 with no problems i kept 2 of them a male and a female. Doug got the other male. They are not quite 6 months old yet and will be started in the spring.

I will post pictures of the pups out of both stud dogs and the other young dogs we are currently working on.
I have an 8 month old out of Slammer and a lightning maggie bred female. I got him at 5 months old and started spending time making up to him. Decided i would take him along one night well he took right off with the other dogs. I have been hunting him every since and hes became my main priority this season.

My son has a big blue male out of Dino and Birdie , that big ole sucker started early too and has been going strong every since. He has a big mouth killer locate and a real tree dog!
He also recently bought Ntch Main Street Demo who was just recently bred to Hoss. She is a real treat to hunt as well. Some nights you cut her and she will go 300 to 500 yards and have the coon other nights she will go .65 or whatever it takes and have the coon then too. So we have alot of potential in the works but as any serious coon hunter knows it takes alot of woods time to make these hounds turn out to what we are looking for in the perfect hound. Which by the way no one will ever find it lol. I will get some pictures of these hounds on here when i have more time. Thanks for reading

Ugg started pretty easy and just keeps getting better each night she goes. Tim Rhoads owns her but i still pick her up and hunt her when i get the chance shes alot of fun to cut loose.

Rosco has been in on alot of coon treeing we have done this season and continues to get better every time i cut him loose. He has treed 3 singles split from the other dogs. Hes getting pretty tough.

I will keep this updated and try to get more pics and videos when i can. I also have a nice lil female pup out of Mainstreet Jack and Roxy. Ill get her on here soon.

We will also try to get some pics and videos of Demo as soon as we can. I feel like we have a solid foundation but still alot of young stuff that will and is getting worked hard .Just trying to do our part in making the english breed stay on top.

And i will post what to and when Demo will be bred. Anytime someone wants to see any of them go just text or call. Thanks For reading.

Thanks they keep me busy for sure. Slammer is a coondog. And I've hunted with penny too. She's a nice little gyp. Should be dandies I had one from that cross also but when Rosco started that's where all my time went. Good luck with your Slammer dog. I'm pleased with what I'm working on. And Tim is a great guy to deal with and a real good buddy of mine. He does his homework for sure.

Tim text me when I was out with rosco said your Slammer x Penny pup treed a coon. Rosco just treed his 4th of the season. 3 before he split from the other hounds tonight he was solo. He treed on a big old den tree but the coon was settingoutside so I gave him some rapid fire and dropped it ouit to him. This Lil sucker keeps impressing me more and more everytime I cut him loose. Then Tim told me another slammer pup treed a coon also. Sounds like a great night fopr slammer kids. Keep up the great work Tim!

Happy New Year everyone!

Hope everyone enjoyed the new year coming in last night. The first part of mine me and My buddy Tim Rhoads took Rosco and another young dog out of slammer out last night. Tim calls him runt hes gotta nice big mouth on him. Went to eastfork cut them together it wasnt long and rosco struck and runt opened also. before you know it they heated that track up and slammed a tree. we went to them and they had the coon . i was pleased with rosco and Tim told me thats the 1st time out at night with runt he had seen a couple coon in the daytime so i was pretty impressed with him as well. But i always get to excited to remember pics lol Slammer pups are continuing to get it done!

happy new year dion. I named my female little slammin sandy. I been hunting her alone and yep she treed her first without any help. sandy is not perfect but she seems like a very smart dog. she is kennel quiet and I love that in a dog and I didn't have to beat that into her.

Well there is a few more slammer pups getting it done too, Like Slammin Sandy l ruhol she sounds like a good one . Thanks Doug yes we did start it off right. Sounds like woody is doing great also..Gonna take Rosco out again tonight with a man from mt.vernon , ohio. Ill try to get some videos or at least some pics..

Well its been way to cold to hunt so no new pics or videos. today its suppose to be 26 or something like that so me and rosco are gonna hit it tonight hopefully have some good pics and videos on here tomorrow. only a few weeks of season left so gotta take advantage of the warmer weather.

I cant hunt till i get my truck back.but i wanna thank tim rhoads for hauling rosco up to the club for me. I put 25 points on him on the bench. Ill post a pic later. It was the 1st show for both of us we have alot to learn but it was still fun.
