Not much different than hunting a hound IMO.

I could do without one opening on squirrels, but don't mind it at night.

Why would that be? My hound is dead silent to she trees.

reason im askin is because i have a walker x leopard that has a docked tail and is about 40 lbs. she is bawl mouth on track and a few hunters have told me i may make some people mad because she may pull some good dogs off of tree by open trailing. ive coon hunted black n tans all my life and if one would get pulled off a tree that easy it was gone. in my opinion a GOOD dog wont pull for nothing!!

I comp hunt a lot and have always said that if a person goes to a comp hunt and anything another dog does messes up their dog... They should go back and get more dog. Had a man tel me leaving my coon light on would mess his dog up... I told him stepig on a rattlesnake would be worse so my light stays on!

Them boys need more dog power. I personally don't like an open sq dog. I've seen a bunch of open dogs that are TOUGH sq dogs. if a dog can't take pressure from track or tree I'd say I don't need it.

Although I don't want one...

I love hunting against an open trailer at nite in a comp hunt....It's the "mine & yours" thingy....made easier....

He asked about bawl mouthed OPEN TRAILING. Bawl mouth is an indication of hound blood IMO. Just like a 25lb cur is an indication of feist blood IMO. Common sense.

That is right, and you said not much different than hunting with a hound. I was just pointing out you can't paint everything with a wide brush, because my hound is as hound as they get and she don't say a word to treed. Just like a bawl mouth in a cur don't necessarily mean hound in them.

If you pull their dog yep they are gonna get pissed and make excuses but it ain't gonna be your dogs fault. BUT I have seen registries make rules for that very thing. You recon the ones making the rules had some of their dogs get pulled? LOL

Open on track is one thing- babbling another. Stationary rule is a good rule for sq dogs. They got their face open for 5 minutes and aint treed they need minused.
