Buckskin Plotts?
I know buckskin Plotts are rare but does anybody know if there is someone who breeds them? Also which color of Plotts produce buckskins more often if there is any?

every litter i have ever seen from bob plott has atleast 1 in it. Since they can not be registered in ukc i dont see the point of looking for one but then again thats us plott people we cant ever agree on everything..

I just thought it would be unique to have one. I agree with you though I don't like that they can't be registered by the ukc but I would like to own one.

Thanks Robert I'll be sure to contact him. Also Kirby I sent you a text message but I don't know if that's your cell phone or home phone though. I got two pups I'm training now so I won't be buying anymore pups til next year but I really appreciate you offering me one. I was just wanting to see if anyone breeds them. If you have any next year I might buy one off of you if you have any next year. If you can Kirby post a picture of the pup I like see it and if I find someone interested I'll let you know. Thanks.

Odd plotts
Is it common for buckskin and Maltese females to have irregular or nonexistent heat cycles? I have a 3.5 year old double weems female that has only been in heat one time.

airdale
My granddaddy use to tell me stories about a fella he hunted with growin up he had a male bluetick name smoky and he was a coondog my papa said and he told me that the fella he hunted with bought 2 aerdales from way off somewhere and theyd be walkin through the woods and they would be lookin up and tree on a squirrels nest or anything black in the top of a tree. papa said he would walk in circles shinin his carbide light to make sure them aerdales wont behind him bout to bite him he said they were mean as snakes. lol aint tryin to steal yur thread just thought id share that story from when he was a kid.
buckskin
I dont think anyone intentionally breeds buckskins they just happen. They are just as much a part of the Plott breed as are brindles and maltese. I get maltese and buckskins out of mine. I have noticed that when the buckskins are absent for several generations the dogs tend to get more and more black. I think buckskin is necessary to keep the brindle particularly if you have a lot of black brindles. I dont breed for color though and only breed for performance. My theory has always breed the best to the best and let color go where it may. My favorite color ironically is very light brindle like Greyboy but I have never had one.
I like lighter brindle colored plotts, and even have a buckskin gyp which happens to be my lead bear dog. The solid black doesn't do much for me and that's just me. I won't cull a buckskin just cause of standards. Heck we can register them as x bred now.

And now you can register UKC x bred
Why should anyone who breeds full 100% purebred dogs HAVE to register a dog as crossbred?? The Solid black one who's papers got pulled got it's papers back why shouldn't buskins be registered?

They only have to have one tiny bit of brindle on it to be registered. All my of my dogs are yellow brindle. Most of my black dogs you have to get in a good light to see any brindle but it is there.
Ask the NPHA lets say you breed PR plott mama to PR plott papa and you have 6 pups 4 are brindle and 1 is to "dark" and 1 is to "light" now these parents are 100% plott because they have never let single registration but you cant register 2 of them so you should not be able to register ANY of them and you should not be able to register mama and papa cause they must not be 100% PLOTT!!!! LMAO After all we should be breeding for color instead of the performance of a HOUND
Rich
Are you poking the bear again? Or is that a new super hound your working on? (color before ability)
You know me gotta have brindle could care less if they tree a coon lookin good on the plywood never seen the hardwoods lol oh wait thats some other people
