Iowa Hide Season

Not a very productive night, one den and two coons for my hound. Sure hope some of you other Iowa hunters had a better night.

Striker had solo then him and daddy split treed. 3 coon in 25 minutes. Then they got fur happy and went brain dead. My own fault for not hunting them enough. They settled down got three more after some attitude adjustments got 3 more.

Glad somebody got something done! We have had a weird couple weeks here not seein coon very much at all been treein some but not an abundance at all goin long way to get struck and what not just lil dry spell it seems

Opener

My night

Treed 1 den, 3 times, then a double. Shot the bigger coon, and another den. Walked around with a young dog in 25 acres or so, and she never got struck.

Made two drops tonight and two trees, they had the meat both times...Sure am glad we had a Garmin with the wind blowing so hard tonight, we couldn't hardly hear the hounds.

We treed 14 on Sat night but we really had to work for them. Hunting was really tough when the frost 1st set in. We had the best luck between 1am - 4am.

Sunday night we treed 4 by 9 pm. The windy was blowing pretty bad so we hung it up after that.

Seems consistent

Everybody coon moved pretty similar my nights were a lot like yours sat sounds like I was quitting by the time it got better lol but Sunday night jammed 3 up in an hr

Anyone sold any yet or heard what the average prices on the pelts are for this year? I'll bet they are not as high as what most heard they would be.

2 @ $15 3 @ $22
1 @ $32

Buyer told me $40 for tops and muskrats $16 stretched.

Iowa hunting season

Been on vacation all week and hunting the tar out of a couple pups I started this summer. They are both doing a fine job and will wear a pair boots out and put a dent into the coons around here. Haven't even had the old dog out yet this week.

We got 3 this size the other night - 35+ pounds:

The hound behind it will be 3 tomorrow that gives you more of an idea how big they were.
