jeep wrangler dogbox ideas

Picked up a 4cyl wrangler for a hard to beat price and seeing if anyone has any ideas for a dogbox.

Not interested in putting one on a hitch.

Thanks!

If you don't need the back seat, take it out and build a box with 1/2 or 3/8 plywood that will fit inside the tub.

Or, just let them have run of the back with some plexiglass or expanded metal behind the front seats

make sure it can get plenty air in the summer.... even with the ac my dogs got really hot in a box inside my jeep and you cannot leave them in there without leaving it running in the summer

that's what I was thinkin Justin just trying to get rid of the tailgate and put the doors there without impacting the window.

Patches can you put up a pic of your box?

I have a large airline crate with a door on the end as well as the middle of one long side. It fits in the back of my Jeep Patriot.

I can't remember the manufacturer, but I got it at Jay's Outdoors in Clare, MI.

I saw one awhile back that had mounted a dog box on the trailer hitch...3 stalls that fit 1 dog each so it didn't stick out but mayby 24 inches ...it was metal kinda looked like the beagle boxes but a little taller. I assume it was custom made. Alunimum, vents ,ect. Would take care of the problem of air flow & you could keep your back seat. Diamond deluxe could build it to you specks.

All are great ideas. I think right now, when I get back to the jeep (currently in the Middle East on a deployment, counting down the days now), I'm going to eliminate the tailgate and keep the hardtop with the glass...

Make the glass shut down onto a piece of diamond plate with 2 doors, And build a box behind it. I'll put a bunch of the 2" vents all over it and make sure the doors in the back are well ventilated.

Other thing I'm going to do is route the exhaust out the side in front of the tire so it won't loom so close to the rear. Best I've came up with for now.

Really trying to avoid having the dogs sticking out behind the frame because of ditches and rearenders.

Wrangler

Here is 4 dogs in the back of my wrangler, no box, just drilled holes to fit 1/4" eye bolts, short piece of chain and a snap and you can pick and choose which dog you drop. My other idea is putting plexiglass in and replacing the side glass, and cutting holes out to give them more air.

I don't know if the dogs I hang around are potty trained well enough for all that lol

It is a little pricey, but if you are building this may offer you a fancy alternative.

Well I make sure I train mine not to go whether in a box or whatever I put em in. Kinda have to when you choose a setup like mine lol

Are you talking a real jeep like a wrangler? If so make sure they will not be directly on the floor it gets hot to the touch for some reason. At least mine did. I took out the back seat and built a box to fit it and lifted it a few inches from the floor.
