rule ?

3 dog cast .all dogs strike in they move on .yotes come into dogs yepping at them no dogs take the bait.dogs shut up the 8 gets all dogs.2 dogs caught .tracker comes show last dog 1.23 miles from the truck .the hour gets that dog.leave her cause cant get her to come.finish the hunt part of cast go to club I go and find my dog all ends well.the ? is could I have called interference.?or did we make the right call

I have seen this one come up a few times and will give my take, which I believe will be very close to the UKC official interpretation. First off there is no interference rule-read the card and see if you can find the word interference anywhere except under fighting dogs. It just drives me crazy everytime someone wants to call "interference". The only way I think U can get out of minusing your dogs if they get into coyotes is if everyone agrees the coyotes are actually agressively attacking your dogs and they are truly in danger. Then, if the majority of the cast agrees and votes to call time out because their dogs are in danger you can do that, delete their strike and catch them. BUT I believe you would have to do that before the 8 minutes runs on them or any of them come in otherwise they are minused. I believe you made the right call.

Not real clear on your ?
After the 8 caught the dogs did the cast vote to call timeout? and if so why? The only allowable reasons to call timeout are listed on the card and hearing yotes isnt one of them.

I think I understand his ?=the fact is there are literally hundreds of comp hunters that believe there is an "interference" rule that allows you to circle or delete points that should otherwise be minused in any situation that they feel a dog was interfered with like he got near coyotes, he was near a house dog, a quad came down a farm lane past him, he got near cows......the list is endless. They believe this because they have heard other hunters call "interference" and never really read the rules to see if it was legit-IT ISN'T! Like you (John) wrote there is a list on the back of the card that tells the reasons to call time out and if the majority of the cast believes the dogs are truly in danger then call time out immediatly and delete their strike points. But if you don't call time out immediatly, then you can't decide later not to minus them because they were interfered with.

after the dogs quit trailing and yotes left we did not know which way they went.after the8 called time out turned on tracker one dog 900 yds north.not sure one was no tracker and of course my dog was 1.34 miles across the highway.but we had a good hunt like I said the hour got me .so scr my dog and still we moved and treed 1 more coon that was seen and 1 not seen.so thanks for all the infro.

Actually the use of, ect................ in the rule leaves it wide open for reasons to call time.

You're right John its not there anymore. Either way time can be called for a multitude of reasons because of the wording of danger for dogs or hunters. All it requires is a cast vote. Right or wrong it is how it is done.

You say its not a reason to call time but the other three disagree. Guess what happens.

I agree, probably the most abused rule on the scorecard.

Wouldn't be calling all this timeout stuff if you just had to beat the dogs you draw instead of every other dog st the hunt.

Absolutly true, and im as guilty as the next guy when i guide. a 2 hour UKC. hunt we might hit 6 little spots, tree a quick one and move= a big score.
When i guide a $KC. hunt i hit a big block, walk a minute and cutem.
Another thing that contributes to the problem is that in UKC. if you have a dog in the cast that is bad about going back it can reck the whole night if ya dont move, in $kc you can send em to the truck.
