White river ark
Im looking to get some info on coonhunting on the white river ive always heard stories of folks slaughtering coons there anybody out there have any advice on when to go ect thx
I went last year for the first time. We only treed 2. Made plenty more trees but that's all we got. Still had a good time. There will be alot of people and dogs. You still should be able to get by yourself.
I heard the season is only 12 days long or something like that what time of year is it you went
Went last yr and we treed over 30 in 2 1/2 nights of hunting. We hunted off 4 wheelers, and we srop a dog drive up the rd drop a dog and so on. It was fun, id be checkin my dog power if i only treed 2 coons at the white river. Anyone that has been will tell you the same. As of right now, its closed due to the government shutdown.

Yes i know its closed thats why im trying to figure out when the season is on the refuge because i heard its very short im hoping i dont miss it
You can look it up at AGFC. I've hunted in most places around the country and white river refuge is the best hunting there is. I only hunted it one night last year. Treed 13 singles in 4 hours and it's like walking in a park.

The White River Refuge is broken into two units- North and South. Hwy 1 is the divider. Usually opens on the South Unit Dec. 1, and closes about the 15th. The North Unit is open much longer, something like Nov.-Jan.?
We usually hunt the South Unit. Much more crowded. Seems like there's more water to contend with, but lots of coons.
Contact the USFWS office at St. Charles if the government ever opens for more info.
We had the dog power. Others that we talked to did the same thing that night. It was bitter cold the night we went.
