Know your surroundings

1. Don't walk backwards while shinning a tree, always know for sure what is behind you. The next step could be a real big one.
A year ago, I fell backwards 15 feet into a dry creek bed onto some big rocks. Luckly, only broke my left elbow and wrist. Kept me from hunting a few weeks. Now I look around and pay lots more attention :-).
2. Don't ever (never) shoot or shake out anything, that you don't want your dog to tree for the rest of their life.

never forget your gun at a tree ! done this one night after I walked down this steen and I mean steep pipeline to the bottom of this holler and left the gun didn't realize til I got back to truck had to turn around and head back . no.2 rule never forget shells !!!
