What Newer Lights Compare to Sunburst?

Burn time, walk light, spot light, etc. but without the big bulky batteries?
Every few years I have to send my Sunburst in to have the batteries replaced which costs $150+. Getting a bit pricey, so I'm asking around before it's that time again.

Thanks,
Laura

Boss Triple Threat with the Boss Flame Spotlight best package on the market in my option. Battery pack on the 24 volt is 1 pound and the spotlight maybe 1/2 pound. If you don't want color LED I think the Boss Magnum Pro is one of the Brightest out there or you could get either one in a cap light.

This is what I now have.....But have owned most of these others.....
A lot of good lights out there, and they are getting better and brighter every month or so........try a bunch out til you find the one that fits your style.

In my opinion and not trying to start trouble so forgive me but it doesn't take much of a light to out do the Sunburst of any kind. A few years ago a young man that hunts with me bought one thinking it would be brighter than mine. When he found out different he confessed and said. I thought since I paid so much it would out do yours. TRUE STORY.

I just bought a bright eyes trifecta. I have the belt light it is small and lightweight don't even know its on your belt. The head has a flood spot and one color. To me this light has all the features I've been looking for.

Might have been something wrong with it ?
Sunbursts had one of the best and brightest spotlights available, their head wasn't very bright but plenty bright enough and Perfect for dimming down........they were a darn good, reliable light.

Best Light- Deffently one of these two.

For the money you cannt go wrong with The K-Light, its brighter than most I've seen, holds up well and they are great people to spend your dollar with. I also have had the Laser Torch Pro and hunted with a guy packing the new one with colored LEDs built in, both are really nice and all any coonhunter would ever need.

While it would be hard to choose one over the other, K-Light gets my vote for being priced the most reasonable. $200 gets you the K-Light Convertable XL vs. $300 for the Laser Torch Pro.

Laser torch pro is really lightweight. I know what you mean about some of the heads being heavy.

Product, price, and SERVICE.......
Hard to beat K Light when you consider all aspects of performance and price.

17VOLT EAGLE 2+2 HARD TO GET AWAY FROM THE HEAD PIECE .It will flood or spot and flip up and down and that is something I am so use too being able to do.If I could flip the others up /down I would consider trying a LED.......I hunt a 3000 acre tract on the Great Pee Dee River and many nights I am alone. I may be 3/4 hrs getting back to my truck....I TRUST THE EAGLE TO LIGHT MY WAY...A top light back in the day but still on the market since the 70s,that there should speak volume

Wow! Thanks for the great response!

I'll be checking into all of these. The Sunburst might be old and bulky, but it has suited me well.
During the hot summer months, I use the walk light more than the head piece because the bugs are so bad. So a good walking light is a must.
I also don't want a heavy head piece. When you have a ponytail you sometimes can't tighten your bump cap down enough to keep it in place.
James B Grice has a good point that I didn't think of, about the adjustable head piece.
I do kinda like the shoulder straps also, as it helps disperse the weight, but with the newer lighter lights I don't think that will be an issue.

We'll see what my searches turn up, but after reading some of the replies, Sunburst might not be a bad light to stick with.

Laura good luck in your search, there are a lot of good lights to choose from. Just like dogs everyone is not going to like the same one but im sure there is one to suite almost everone. I know I was very reluctant to switch over to an LED head but the only regrets I have had is that I didn't switch sooner. You mentioned the bugs bothering you, well I use a Bright Eyes "Snake Eyes" head and even with the white light on brightest setting the bugs do not bother me at all, the red LEDs are great for finding eyes in the summer without having to carry a pop cover but defiantly not needed for the bugs. I have a swivel bracket mounted to my bump cap that allows you to adjust up & down and this light is so bright I have had no need for a spot light. As far as the walk light you more than likely will not find one to suite you as well as the Sunburst however I have heard of people getting led heads made to work on their Sunburst belt. Good luck!

I think Rob is spot-on that everyone is going to like something a little different. Your best bet is to hunt with different people with different lights and see what works best for you. I know I have personally had Bandit, Bama, Blazer, and Bight Eyes lights and they were all good for what they were. This is spanning about 20 years of lights though.

I personally like a box light the best. I'd say most people will not agree with me on that but I like them. I've had belt lights but they don't "feel" right. Also I hunt with a .22 pistol in season so the box acts as a counterweight to my holster.

Last light I had was a 21v Blazer box. It was a good light. Very light and dependable. I thought it was a little too bright for walking so I put a green pop cover on it (it was not LED). Suited me well for several years.

About 1 1/2 years ago I bought a Bright Eyes 28v box. It had the Super Six LED head. I am like Rob, I don't know why I didn't go with LED much much sooner! I got it at B&T days 2012 and hunted hard every night for 2 weeks before charging it. It wasn't getting dim but I was getting worried. I was just sure it would fail me at any time! I think I could have hunted on it more if I hadn't wimped out.

At this past B&T days I upgraded the head to the Snake Eyes. It has 5 white and 2 red. This is the greatest thing invented in my opinion and several different companies now offer it. No more fooling with pop covers! I couldn't tell you how many I've lost over the years. I've got the same battery pack with the head and it is perfect for me. I don't carry a spotlight at all because it is so bright. This new head is probably half as heavy as the old Super Six so that helps a lot. Also I have known Ray for several years and he backs up what he sells. I personally am very, very happy with my Bright Eyes and plan on using it for many many years to come.

All that being said, that's what works for me and it may not work for you as well. I personally don't like the lights all built on a helmet. I have a bad habit of knocking my bump cap off and I'm afraid I would drop my light in a river somewhere!

I think there are several good light makers out there today. A friend of mine has the Laser Torch Pro and it's a nice little light. I like having 4 different colors right there at the flip of a switch.

Do your research and see what will fit your needs best. Good luck on your quest!

i use the bright eyes super six LED, no spot light is needed its that bright. i also mounted a swivel bracket on my helmet to adjust the head up or down. i also bought suspenders that clip on to the belt so its not trying to ride my pants down. it so comfortable that it dont even feel like your wearing a light around your waist.

turn the helmet a little to the side or mostly hold the helmet with the forehand holding the gun. no problem.lol

Either gun in one hand and bump cap in the other or I have someone else there to shine while I shoot. Not any different than holding the gun in one hand and the spotlight in the other. Just takes practice.

Most of the time I'm hunting with someone so I just let them shine while I shoot.
