2013 World Show reflection

If you were not there this year you missed a real treat...

As I stood watching the final round this year It was more than an honor and joy to see two of my dear friends be pulled for Male and Female but getting to this point was just as interesting...

I was impressed as Amy went through the first round and her knowledge of the breed standards and as she spoke after each class and how she used the breed standards to make her decisions in each class... Very well done Amy !!!

Now to the final round... I wish everyone in the coonhound world could have been standing in the arena as the finals proceeded... Mrs. Snedegar as we all knew would be really watching these hounds on the ground... she took a different an unique approach to the final round but it is the worlds so why not do it the way you want it done....

Down to the final two Becky and Stanley and Penny and Cindy... I was overcome with joy and pride as I watched these two ladys and their soon to be retired hounds battle for the World Title. Class Sportmanship and genuine respect shown by both ladies was such a joy to watch. But the best part was watching Jody and Don (The husbands) stand and watch with great pride and joy as their wives and hounds were in the ring. Both with smiles as big as Kentucky on their faces and tears in their eyes. A moment that I will hold near to my heart for a long time because I know what it is like to have a husband that supports you, travels with you and takes great pride in all of your wins and looses no matter....

Congrats Penny Jody and Cindy and Becky, Don and Stanley....

Just glad I could be there to enjoy the wonderful wonderful day and be a part of it with you....

She is a WONDERFUL judge. AND I think UKC needs to find more judges like her for MAJOR events. No one left that rings without having exact knowledge of EXACTLY the reason your dog did or didn't win. And IMO there was NO question as if that was the best dog that won the class. That was my 3rd World to attend and I really thought everyone got a fair shake this year.

I have VERY high respect for Amy as a Judge and as a Person.
