UKC needs to find a place for the finals and keep it in the same place every year.

All the other major events are in the same place annually. Autumn Oak, Grand American, Winter Classic (well it was for years). The other KC has their major events in the same places.

People that want to go are going to go. If it's in a good location, may even get better turnouts.

I know only 100 dogs + or - a few go to the finals. I'm thinking better turnouts at RQE and Zones.

For example, Oaks had 669 entries this year.

SouthEast TW - 586 entries
Grand American - 614 entries

These places have proven through the years to be able to host a major event effectively. People know when they go there that there is a decent chance of treeing a few coons and have the best dog win the cast, not just the dog that gets lucky on one coon.

Just my thoughts.

On that level opsitcals should get harder, like in the Black Mountains of eastern KY where dogs have to really work for it .

I agree that it would be nice to be able to have the World Hunt a little later, after the leaves are off. However, the last three months of the year make that idea nearly impossible to even consider because of deer season in most parts of the country.

That's true for the State of Michigan.

Most of us guys still manage to coonhunt during bow and gun season in Michigan, I am sure those southern guys and gals could handle it. We have places to hunt during season, so it isn't like that would be a problem.

Where isn't as important as when as far as I'm concerned. Be a skeptic if you like, but when the moon is full and bright the coons just don't look as well so the scores are going to be lower. We see it here all the time and it makes the hunting a lot tougher for sure. There are several resources available to check the moon phases against the calendar, from the computer to the farmers almanac. Just adjusting the date to coincide with the dark of the moon would make a huge difference.
