Tough lookin bunch of hounds.Hope it ant raining there like it is here in southern Ohio. They will need some rain suits if so.
Wouldn't it have made more sense to have 6 casts? I would have thought that they would have had Five 3 dog casts and one 4 dog cast. It would have given one more dog a chance to advance and the 3 dog casts would have been more manageable.
The rules are to use the least number of casts possible. The format they use gives the 1 n 2 n 3 high scoring dogs automatic spot in finals while 4 n 5 hunt it off.
It isn't a "rule". It is a format or policy. They can do what they want. It is the World Championship, not a local club hunt. It looks like they would have had a better shot at 4 dogs advancing to the finals tonight.
Rule#1 Dogs must be divided into the least number of casts possible in accordance with the nite hunt cast breakdown sheet.
Looks like a rule.

My Rule Book says on pg 99 #4...Rules for running the events, "with special revisions as required". And then on pg 103 it says, "Friday Night (third round) - All dogs with plus points from the Thursday night (2nd round) will be drawn into casts and will hunt 2 hours. We must have different rule books.
