water race?

How should this be handled?
I was at my club and we were having a water race w/ four dogs in it. Three dogs jumped in fine but one wouldn't go and was running laps around the pond. Two dogs were pretty much nose and nose as they came to the line, at this point the dog that was running laps jumped in and swam towards the dogs headed to the line. One dog had to swim around the dog coming towards them and that put him behind. Should this race have been re run bc of the interference of that's just the way it goes???? thanks

We would have offered to rerun the cast.

This would have been the thing to do but it's not alway's possible . Since the dog was in that heat it's generally considered bad luck versus a dog that got loose & caused the same problem.

your right dale, 20/20 hind sight right?

I dont think it was necessary to re-run becuase that is the luck of he draw... but re-running is an option (I think) but UKC might think differently

ya I guess its a bad break and the hound went around the pond with no spectators were to grab him. I guess I was looking for a ukc opinion in case it ever happens again. Thanks for the replies...

Don't know there's any rule one way or the other so chairman of judges could make the call as the circumstances dictate but you leave yourself open to someone wanting a do over every time their dog gets a bad break .

Our club would have reswam that heat with the three dogs that came across only. The dog that run the bank was disqualified first time out and wouldn't have been included in the reswim.
