Track...
What line of Walkers do you have and how do they hunt. I used to hunt Walkers years ago and their probably in my top 3 favorite coon dogs. What got you interested in hunting? I grew up in a hunting family...both Grandpas had coon dogs...Just thought I'd ask because I'm curious.

I have a finley river dog and she kinda ball mouth on the track but chops at the tree. She will bust a hole in the dark, and has the meat most of the time. I'm a country boy, grew up in the southern Arkansas so football, hunting and fishing were my past times. How about yourself?

Track...

I have Redbones and Leopards. My family are from Southern Mo...Southern Illinois and Arkansas (just across the Missouri line from Poplar Bluff.) Dad owned the ACBA (Leopard Cur) Registration office for 9 years. The Leopards that I own go back to our old line dogs. My redbone Thunder hunts walker style...is semi on track and a hard tree dog. I keep the Leopards to hunt during the week...because Thunder is a straight line competition type hound that can flat burn a track and hunts on the fly. He is bawl on track with 3 long bawl locates before he settles into a steady chop at the tree. His last bawl locate is a dying locate. He will flat hunt your boots off and has caught several coon on the ground.
I grew up on horses and dirt bikes...ran the woods with dogs...squirrel ,deer coyote and quail hunted and fished. We lived 45 minutes from my school, so sports were kind of out of the question. My Dad is 78 years old...is an ordained minister and worked for Caterpillar for 32 years. I hunt for him and take my Wife and kids. Dad can't hunt anymore...but I call him on the phone and let him listen to the dogs tree...take lots of pictures for him. Mom and Dad have been a great influence on my life...praying for and loving me when I wasn't so very loveable. I am committed to succeeding in Christ as a good Son, Husband and Father to my children, Caleb and Rachel.
I love my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have lived on both sides of the track and had walked away from the Lord some years ago. I was miserable and a miserable person to be around, until I invited Jesus back into my life and he invaded my heart like fire. I know he is real...I feel his presence everyday...see his hand at work in our lives through healing and provision...I'll never turn back...
Track...I hope that you don't take offense at this...but I am praying for you, your wife and 3 children...as is my family. I see you as a good man with a good heart...

I know I wasn't asked, but I will respond in kind. I am Disabled American Vet who Probably LOVES This Country TOO MUCH. I was Abused when young. I met my wife of 44 years while in school. I was upset with my dad, so I asked her to get married, before I departed. My Mother had died 3 months prior to Departure for Viet Nam. I didn't care what happened to me , at that time of my life, but I knew the Life Insurance the Army carried on me would be paid to my NEW Wife! I was really mixed up at that stage of my Life. My wife comes a VERY GOOD CHRISTIAN HOUSEHOLD. She Is KENNY MASON'S SISTER. If any of you know Kenny, " HARD ROCK CAFE', MOUNTAIN MOBY, LITTLE MISS MILO, STORM, HANNAH, He Always packs a GOOD HOUND!! The Only Female I CAMPAIGNED WAS GR.NT.CH. MOUNTAIN STATE SNEAKER, She was WAY Above Average. Kenny gave me some GOOD SOUND ADVICE, " THERE'S ALWAYS ROOM FOR THE TRUTH"!!! But You know the CALIBER of Family she/ he came from. Upon my return, I was Taught how The Love of THE LORD helps you in EVERYDAY LIVING. I am Partners on a couple of females with some relatives. they are off Moby. I know I have TOO MUCH Time on my hands, Which leads to making so many Political Posts. That goes back to my love of the country statement. I DON'T INTENTIONALLY TRY TO MAKE ANYONE MAD, SOMETIMES MY RESPONSES MAY SOUND INSULTING, BUT IF I HAVE MADE ANYONE MAD, PLEASE ACCEPT MY SINCERE APOLIGIES!!! Spike

That's a good post! Isn't it amazing that Jesus always leaves the flock to rescue the 1 lost sheep. I'm not familiar with your dogs...are they Walkers? What kind of terrain do you hunt? I hunt some steep bluffs and big hill country with blow downs everywhere from a tornado 3 years or so ago.
What kind of dogs do you hunt Tom?
Hey Track...I had some good Walkers back in the day. I had a pup named Chief that made a really top dog. Dad talked me into selling him to buy my first Leopard named Amos. I've hunted and trained about every breed except Plotts'...I guess Leopards stuck with me because it's a way to remember hunting with Dad in the woods. I sure do miss those times...I'd give anything just to have 1 night with Dad hunting with me...chasing dogs and our fellowship together. I squandered a lot of years...

Spike (Brush)

God bless you and thank you for your service to our Country. I just had a friend that resigned my department due to ongoing illness. He was a Viet Nam vet and suffered from effects of agent orange related illnesses. I took him with me 7 years ago to my current job. He had worked for me prior to that for some time.
Your a good Man Spike...I appreciate you and your wisdom...and as a brother in Christ.

Mighty Oaks, Yes The Dogs I Mentioned Were/are Walker Dogs. At The Present Kenny is Still Campaigning A Female Off Of Moby. I Am Partners On A Couple Of Young Walker Females. I am Not Physical Able to Hunt, To Many Ailments, Along W/Agent Orange Problems. It's Pretty Common Around here. STEEP HILLS, I Mean Steep Hills, Not Any Agriculture Close. When Hunting, Kenny and I would Hunt Anywhere From Marietta, Ohio to Wooster, Ohio. We live @ 15 miles from the Ohio River in W.V. Like I Said In Other Posts, I'm A Disabled, Kenny Owns And Operates An OIL AND GAS EXPLORATION COMPANY IN W.V. HE OWNS LAND IN MISSOURI, OHIO AND W.V.

Brush...

Thanks for the reply. I have a good friend in W.V. that has Leopards...really pretty country. Our ground here that I hunt is Corp Property. A lot of fellas hunt it. When I was a kid, I could walk across the road and hunt 2000 acres. It is now all subdivision. Not a lot of places to hunt anymore...One of these days if the Lord tarries...We'd like to move to Ark or Missouri...

Thanks

I bought him because I thought he would be a close to medium hunter...he doesn't know how to start a track close to me...LOL. My Charlie horses have Charlie horses after a night hunting with him. He minds good...doesn't trash...he's just got one gear...forward. He checks in on the fly...you catch him at the tree. The most I have treed with him in a night has been 9 singles and 2 doubles. I sure do love him though. Dad and I co-own him together.

That's the type dog you gotta have here. Them get through the country and get treed with a coon somewhere kind. Don't bother me a bit if they don't come back. Gas to high to be running all over the place trying to turn one out on a coon close enough for em to strike

I get that a lot...LOL. He's my buddy. When I took some fur to the furrier an elderly man asked if I trapped...because he knew no Red dog treed them coon! LOL. The furrier looked over his shoulder and winked at me while pulling fur down a carcass. I said, "I know...surprises me too". I've been fortunate to have good Redbones. Just sold a litter of pups out of Thunder and one of my females...
Thanks Hill Billy 56. When I began searching for our old line of Leopards and couldn't find the bloodlines anymore, I got Thunder. 3 Years later and a lot of looking, I found a male and female Leopard that go back to our Bushy dog and His brother Wild Bill. But Thunder...Ruby and Twister have sold me on Redbones...so I have both breeds.
