Just a post about my dogs

Well I am getting my dog Molly (who I bought from Donnie Egli) ready for some night hunts and kill season starts the 1st of September. I hunted her at least 2 nights a week in June and this past month I didn't hunt her but 9 times. This month I have been pushing her 4 nights a week. She is looking good. I can't wait for my first night hunt coming up in September. My dog Jake has 50 points on the bench and I have been working with him on standing and conformation. I hope I can get him finished in 2 more shows. Finally, my dog Tracker is getting pushed in the woods. I take him with Molly, and am starting to make drops with him by himself. He used to hang around me, but then I took a stick and switched him and he went hunting. He has started to tree more coon by himself, but wont enter him in night hunts until next spring. Jake is also coming along in the woods. Before long I can Solo Jake out. I have a question though. I am just in Junior high, so my hunting will be limited to about 3 nights a week. Is that okay for my younger dogs? Thanks guys and happy hunting!

In my opinion three nights a week is great. You dont ever want to burn a young dog out because it can happen. Good luck

hunt when you can and keep it fun!!! sounds like you got enough dogs to mix it up and have fun putting coon in the air.

good luck, matt.

Clay I've only been hunting my year and a half old male (out of Rage X Shiloh) Saturday and Sunday nights and maybe if I'm lucky one day thru the week for the past 6 months, Its not ideal but it works with my schedule. man is he fun to hunt, one of the better coondogs I've owned and he's still young too. An old houndsman told me when I was your age (many moons ago lol) keep it fun and always end the hunt on a good note, especially with young dogs, always go home with them wanting more so when there sitting in the kennel they will be thinking about the last good thing that happened to them on that hunt. good luck
