He Who Prepareth Well, Winneth Often

One of my all-time favorite posts for the benefit of anyone who was not on this forum five years ago.......

He Who Prepareth Well, Winneth often

Revised by JohnD

Behold there came through the gate of the city a coonhunter from afar. It came to pass as the nights went by, he hunted his dog aplenty. And in that city there were the laggards and complainers, they who spent their days reading hound magazines and whining on internet message boards.

Mightily were they astonished at the performance of the stranger’s dog. They said to one another, “What the hell! How do he winneth so much? He must haveth a rough slick treeing idiot.”

And it came to pass that many were gathered at the side of the ring and a soothsayer came among them. And he was one wise guy. And they questioned him saying, “How is it that this stranger has such a good coondog?”

Whereupon the soothsayer made answer. “He of whom you speak is one great hustler,” he answered. “He seekest out the beasts who spring from loins of coondogs and he entereth the forest very often and goeth forth full of pep to train his dog. He complaineth not. Neither doth he despair. While you lie in bed and say, “Verily this is a terrible night to train a coondog,” he is already afoot along hinder creek. On the 7th night, when the 120th minute cometh, he needeth no alibis. He taketh with him five angels; intelligence, persistence, perspiration, .22 rifle, hickory switch, and works like hell. Verily I say unto you, go and do likewise.”

That is no doubt the all time best Post. It contains the pinnacle of both Wisdom and Humor.

Another of my all time favorites was this one> http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthrea...onhunters+wives

I just about bust a gut laughing when I read it.

Boy, we used to actually have fun on here back in the day. Now it seems like folks are at each other's throat over just about anything... Maybe there are lessons in those old post?

Yeah...those were funny. Remember this one?

Old wise one, as I crossed the deep and wide Kalamazoo with my white horse named Dodge, loaded with furs and carcasses of the cagey coon that have roamed our land for years, I couldn’t help but think back to a time not many moons ago when a young warrior (but older than myself) said that he would hunt his ringtail prey almost every night. Has that time already passed? Please send smoke signal,
White Eagle (aka Chris Rugg)

Out in the Bear Creek watershed, there is a valley. In this valley the coon run strong and plenty. So many that they resemble the stars in the sky. This I know for I have been there. Many nights spent alone with a fearless Walker she-hound named after those same stars. Common are the warriors who would have you believe they live for the great hunt. Few are we whom are nourished only by mother nature’s breast and the bounty derived by casting great hounds deep into her timber. Someday this you will learn,
Fearless Chicken (aka Todd Kellam)
