10-20. Carrying a rifle, shooting, skinning, and carrying is just not something I enjoy. I have never sold a coon. I give them to my buddy. I work a part time job 10 hours a week in addition to my full time so I am not interested in messing with fur.

Between hunting and trapping 500+ the last few years. Same spots each year. Would be twice that many in same area but the farmers have taken to poisoning them soon as they start tearing up corn in late summer, area looks to be as large or larger crop of coon in this area this year. Many hunters hunt and trap the same area. Disease would take them if we don't harvest them.

I mostly only shoot coons from November 1st - about Jan 10-15. I also only hunt state land. Many of the places I hunt are an hour away. That travel time really cuts into the hunting.

The last year and the year before I have only shot 35 coons each year.

88 all on private land in the southern counties of michigan, I don't shoot any until Nov 1 even though season opens oct 1 just my preference. I was done by dec 15 after that just passed them up. Starting running the beagles.

The shortage of 22 ammo didn't bother me, I'm still working on a box of 100 that I bought 3 year ago.

Tree a bunch but kill very few. Like to have some to tree next time I go hunting.

Posted by Smoke on 09-17-2013 10:59 PM:

I don't keep track. It seems like the first couple weeks of season shoot a lot then get tired of skinning them. A couple years ago sold 93 thanksgiving weekend and our season opens first week in November.

I average from 12-16 coons a year between 3-4 dogs and hunting 6 nights a week!!! They are worth more alive here than dead!! And has usually 1-2pupsstarting them it's has to be in them here cause they aren't getting much fur!!!

Coonhides arent worth a thing this time of year what do you mean a good start? We dont start killing coon till Nov up North if you want to get anything at all for them and our weather is much colder..who would skin coon or fox in September???

I always start skinning them when dove season opens. Figure they will be worth something. What you guys think?

They sure look good on your barn! That's what matters.

Don't see much of that any more. Dogs tree all of em?

Coons

I've Killed maybe 20 since coon season came in July 1st I try to shoot 1 a night to the dogs. Might have treed 75 or 80 I saw I don't skin till Halloween but with the market like it is I bet even blue coon will bring a few dollars
