Score card question

If the cast has a hunting judge. Does the hunting judge have to sign in the dog he is handling box or is it okay to sign only at the bottom of the card? It states on the back of the score card Rule 9 the handlers signature has to be recorded on scorecard but doesn't say where.

The only signature required Is the cast winners.

Jim, I realize that, but I had a call yesterday asking me if the hunting judge won the cast and signed the card at the bottom if he also had to sign in the score box of the dog he handled. I'm a MOH (since late 60's) and never had this question before it kind of threw me. Never had some one ask this and never seen a hunting judge not sign behind his dog. Don't know if it was just a question or if it happened at a hunt. I never noticed before that it only says handler must sign scorecard or be scratched doesn't really say where. I Never checked a card that the winner didn't sign where they were (supposed?) to.

He can sign in one or the other, both are not required.

I would say yes because the signature at the bottom is for the judge and does not certify the cast hunted 120 minutes. The cast winners signature in the scoring box certifies the cast hunted exactly 120 minutes. Without that cast winner signature in the scoring box, I don't think the card can be accepted.
You'd prolly want something more official from UKC to be sure.

score cards no longer need to be signed in the woods. if the MOH would not accept the score card because the judge only signed the card down below in the judges signature box they could still sign it in front of the moh if they were that fussy that it needs to be by the score total

*13. SCORECARDS: Any handler failing to sign the
scorecard in the woods may have the opportunity to
sign upon returning the scorecard to, and in view of the MOH/HD.

This is directly from the Advisor:

"SIGNATURES ON SCORECARDS
Q: After completion of a cast, does the hunting Judge need to sign both at the bottom left of the scorecard where it asks for the Official Judge's Signature and also next to his score on the right half of the scorecard?

A: A hunting Judge's signature on the bottom left only is acceptable. A hunting Judge's signature on the right half of the scorecard next to his score only is acceptable. It is a good idea for hunting Judge's to sign at the bottom left notation their responsibility on that cast; however, bottom line - so long as the signature is somewhere on the card in one place or another, it should be accepted as a complete scorecard."
