Kennel preference ?

Which of the following three do you think is better? Why?

1...... 6 x 10

2...... 7 x 9

3...... 8 x 8

The houses will either be on the outside or raised off the floor. Maybe both.

I would prefer 6x10. I build all mine 6x8 with insulated box on inside. I go with 6 foot wide because it makes the kennels more Portable. At 6 foot wide they can fit on most trailers easily if you ever need to move them

Doug,
That is some good thinking. I hope I don't ever have to move these. I'm building about 15 runs.

Lol! Yeah that would be a pretty big job to move 15 runs! Well good luck with what you decide to do.

Here is a design I like if you think you ever have to move it "Like if you rent"
or if you stop useing it as a kennel you can close it in & make a shed out of it

Any pics of what the inside of this setup looks like?

Posted by daryl wyland on 07-14-2013 01:25 PM:

Kickapoo Creek

Sorry I don't have any pictures of the inside
I saw this on a shed builders lot for sale
this one had a single man door on the back
In the inside the dog boxes where built in with hinged tops for easy cleaning
It had a full loft above the kennel for storage
with access from outside or inside
the kennel floor was TREX or some other composit decking
I think if i had it to do over this is the way I would of gone
you could finish it on the iside any way it suit you!

below is how I finished the inside of my kennel

I bought 2 kennels & set them apart so all I had to do was make a span with a door for the center pen.
I put down used brick over shale (cheap) lots of drainage easy to clean
I put wood post & footballs in for the boys to wiz on instead of the cage wire & post
They have inside dog boxes I'm still working on it but when finished I hope to have outside boxes for them as well
each run is 5'X15' with 12' of it under roof I did not have to shovel snow this year!!!
I used cul lumber from local lumber yard & mixed or open bundles of shingles that they just wanted rid of it also was very cheap
In colder weather the water bucket sat inside on top of boxes & they didn't freeze up
