(Clicks)

Why do we even have a membership? Some how what we as the membership voted on and passed last year got over turned! What the hell did the click and certain people that think everything should be their way, get all their relatives to become members and to be there to vote!

Vote

Does anybody remember the post that I made last year just after the original vote was made in july.

What I was told by a long time board member what would happen

And has it not happen just the way the post read????

I also was told by a good source that there was a verbal commitment made 2 months ago for the location of the 2014 NRD and it was set for July 4th.

I wont say anymore these are just some of the reasons I have not attended a hunt since september 2012.

If anyone wants to talk my number is listed

Larry, I do remember it very well and I hate to say that our officers and board members must have been persuaded pretty heavy! **** I think our Federal Government is running the National Redbone Association! Twist it how ever they want it and obviously lie about the way things were worded and voted last year! I will give you a call Larry!

I was at meeting last year...and this year. there were more people at meeting this year.....and many of the same people who voted for the date change last year voted against it this year. If you revote on something.....the people have a right to change their mind I guess....but it's too bad that we never got a chance to have it at least once in april to prove all the naysayers wrong about it hurting the turnout. Black and tan days is held around the same time that we were going to change to and they hunted twice as many dogs this year than we did at our breed hunt and had around 50 youths hunt on thursday night.....even when that was a school night (which was one of the things those against the change were saying would hurt our hunt)
We need to respect the vote....but I can tell you that most of the people I saw raise their hands in favor of keeping the July date do not even participate in many of the events at redbone days..... perhaps if they did they might know how hard the heat can be on dogs and handlers......and especially young kids who want to handle a dog. I think one of the reasons this years hunt had such a good turn out and plenty of coons treed was because the temps were lower than normal for july 4th weekend. some of the biggest turn outs of any breed hunts are earlier in the spring when the weather is mild. If the outcome of this vote doesn't sit well with you....let that be a lesson that every vote matters. most of those who hunted late on thursday did not get up early to be there for the meeting at 11 on friday morning. maybe you would have more hunters voting if the meeting was changed to 6pm or 7pm?

It should of never been brought up for another vote. The old powers at be still running things. Don't you think that the 11 am meeting time is there for a reason the hunters are getting to bed at daylight the non hunters all ready got 8 hrs sleep a high percentage of people at the meeting don't hunt. The ones that don't even participate shouldn't get to vote.

Respect the vote????

I wasn't at either mtg. so i didnt vote, however the reason was due to the last time I went to Redbone days it was so miserable hot that it wasn't fun.

Shane not trying to start an argument but you said something I found curious "we need to respect the vote" Why is that? And the only reason I'm asking is was the last vote respected?
You had a majority of members stand up to change something, but it never got changed.
Everyone was told due to date conflicts that it would have to wait a year. Completly understandable, but what happened to that hunt that was being set up in Spring? Like I said before I am not tryin to argue but as a member I feel I have a right to know.

So if i understand it right the hunt that was out for bid in spring is changed back to july right??? Without giving the members what they duly asked for, voted on, and passed??? Mind the fact that they followed the rules set down by the association and by-laws that govern such. I believe that maybe the members should have at least been given the one yr that they had passed. I understand the logistics of the date situation as far as UKC goes once you give up a date it comes up for grabs by other folks. However there could have been a solution worked out to give it a try.....

just my two cents as a dues paying member.

Don't misunderstand me Sam....I voted for and supported the date change...both times. When I said we need to respect the vote...I mean that we have to honor the outcome of the vote. It is my understanding that there were complications that took longer to work out with the clubs who had already submitted the bids for next years redbone days and the dates available and that is the reason that it could not be changed as soon as the next year. I am not happy about the outcome of this vote...but I will respect it and think that in order to include more of those who hunt on thursday night...maybe we should talk about making the meeting time later in the afternoon....say just before entries are taken for the night hunt on friday. If submitted next year in advance of the meeting and in writing...this date change can be put to another vote if any member so desires to do that. If enough people show up to vote for a date change...I believe it can and will happen....but those same people will need to show up every year to vote and protect that change from those who will fight against it. I heard alot of chatter earlier this year from people who wanted changes in our association. Saw them post on this very forum that they would be at the meeting and ready to vote for what they wanted to see happen.....but did not see those people at the meeting. Now some of those people want to know if those topics were talked about or voted on at the meeting.....
Votes matter and you have to show up and take part. Talk is cheap....and actions speak louder than any words. If just half of those who hunted in the hunts over the weekend had gotten up early and went to the meeting....maybe we would be having our breed hunt in april next year instead of july.....just sayin

I guess that it don't do any good to beat a dead horse! Shane with upmost respect, couldn't make Redbone Days this year and if I would have been there I would have made the meeting no matter what time it was when I got back from hunting Thursday night! If the meeting is at 11:00 A.M. then that's when I would have been there! I believe that there shouldn't have been a revote on something that was voted on and passed just because certain people didn't like the out come! Once it was changed and held on a different date and they wanted to change it back, then vote to do so! There is a saying: Don't piss down my back and then tell me that it's raining! Like I stated in a post above that I'm not so sure our Federal Government isn't running our Association! Because it seems their about as crooked! That about sums it up how I feel towards the National Redbone Association!

I understand Kerry.
It wasn't a revote.....a new motion was made...in writing and in advance for the date to be changed back to july. just like next year a motion can be made in advance...in writing that the date be changed to april. I also wish that the past vote could have been honored and at least one hunt held in april to show that it would be a very successful event...but because of the dates for advance bids to be in it wasnt possible to make it happen the very next year....so there was time for it to be voted on as part of a new motion and squashed before it could happen. I don't like the outcome...but I was there and I believe that the officers followed the rules and the vote was accurate....believe me...myself and others were watching closely

Redbone Hunt

Fellas, Hunts are only successful if people attend them....Why don't we start a new hunt and call it something else... I remember when Eno River started the Southern Redbone days. And by the way, there are other hunts that are not ukc sanctioned that are successful. One being the Camp Tuc Away invitational held in Virginia in the winter...I have been wanting to attend that hunt for some time now... Ok Jason, Buck P.Mike and all the others of the VCRL, there's a name for your hunt if it does not have one already. Anyway. There are many ways to start something new and just let the old fade away...Better yet. Just let the show, field trial and water race people have it. I know personally I am just interested in hunting my dog and if I wanted to do the others ( S,FT,WR) , I would just go to National Redbone Days. I have always enjoyed Southern because the leaves are off and my dog is tuned up. So I am thinking, National Redbone Spring Hunt...I don't want to hear excuses, just solutions. Need a sponsoring club. We could have an added purse, Lucas Construction will add the first $100 ( better check that with UKC) maybe even a slam event...No trophies, just win slips and money. Maybe start it as a sectional....If it grows into something, then we would stand a chance of moving National Redbone Days without excuse....Oh and there are two ways to skin a skunk. Let's start to build some ideas......... Lucas
