What does your club do to raise money ?
What does your club do to raise money to keep the doors open besides hunts. Please be as detailed as you want and state what you charge for the events you do to raise money.
Thanks
The clubs in our area extra events range from:
door raffel
turkey shoots
bass tournaments
sponsored 5k race
a added purse money hunt seam to bring out the best crowds for a club though
Pound hunts during kill season also draw a large crowd around here

Raffle a gun or 2 per year
You can make good money on gun raffles. 1 dollar per ticket or 6 tickets for 5 dollars works good. If tickets are too high priced then members hate selling them ( I understand that ). Get a local gun shop to sell you a 22 rifle at cost. Sell 500.00 or 600.00 worth of tickets. Do 50/50 cash tickets at all your hunts and have kids go around selling them.
Cut cost as much as possible. We went 2 years with just liability insurance at our club, until the hunts picked back up.
If you have bad guys at your club that know one likes to draw in a hunt, put them on probation or bar them. Otherwise people will avoid your hunts.

50/50 raffle at every hunt, it has no overhead and is all profit.
Treeing contest for Saturday events.
A once per year gun raffle.
A good kitchen, this can make money if done correctly. Set up a grill and cook the food while folks are there, the aroma will sell plates for ya....We encourage members to bring a 12pk to one hunt per year, this helps increas the kitchen profit without asking to much of the members.

I've often wondered if just a day of holding tree'n contest, bench show, field trials etc in conjuction with selling BBQ plates and have a preist/preacher do a blessing of the hounds would do.
our club was wanting to build a building so we held a chicken bbq and silent auction in conjuction with one of our 2 night events. We only had the bbq on saturday and we cleared over $5000 off that one event. we plan on doing it again next year, but it was a supper boost to our bank account.

Our last Saturday event we started serving food around 4:30.
We had boston butt BBQ, cole slaw, potato salad, baked beans, cornbread or roll, drink and desert for $8.
Then we had a bench show (5 dogs), treeing contest, roll cage, nite hunt (14 dogs) that included a grade hunt.
We sold tickets on dog food.
We cleared over $900. The biggest money bringer is the GOOD FOOD! If u feed them good...they will come back!
Advertisement is key as well! We put out flyers advertised on the radio in local newspapers on facebook.
It takes a hardworking group of people to pull it all off also. When it was just 3 or 4 of us we couldn't do the major food to make money because one was cooking one was serving 1 was doing the bench show field trial events and then HD too. You got to have at least 6-8 people all doing their own thing to make it work.
We also did Turkey shoots. $3.00 per shot 10 or 12 shot rounds $10.00 payback to the winner. We did kids rounds too $5 to those winners. We usually cleared about 130 for about 3 or 4 hrs of shooting.
We did bass tournament on a horrible rainy day. Entry fee was $60 per boat. Club kept half then 1st n 2nd got cash award and plaque also plaque for biggest fish.
We did a weigh in hunt. Entry fee was $20 club kept half other half went to biggest coon. The winner got like $340!!
We are toying with some new ideas. Will let u know how they turn out!

OMG their are some great ideas out there. I have joined the Madison County Coonhunters Club in Winterset and they have family fun days with a water race, treeing contest and drag race what a good time that was..... And it cost $5 a event and paid cash back it was a good deal.
