Jerry don norton aka cotton from rusk tx. I enjoy going hunting with this gentle man a lot and go with him atleast once everytime im from work. he's been hunting for 60+ years. He carried my dad hunting when he was a young man and I've been hunting with him ever since I can remember. he has a lot knowledge on hounds and shares it on every hunt. I've been hunting with him i know 20 years and he tells me i know as much about hounds as he does and I tell him i don't want what you know I want to know what you forgot about them cause thats more than I will ever know. Our time we spent hunting is irreplaceable wouldn't trade it for nothing.

Charles "Buster" Maddox. Knows how to do about everything, and if he don't he'll figure out a way. Use to carry me hunting before I could drive. Never forget it. He had some good black and tans. In 1986 I believe he had the high scoring male at the UKC World Hunt. Ole Topper. These kind of folks are becoming extinct.

I agree , alot of folks that use to live to hunt are passing on , only memories now . But I'll carry on everyone everything they taught me .

One of the most dedicated men I have known to this sport. While understanding that I didn't meat him till later in my life Jarvis Umphers has been a great friend and asset to our sport! He has fought for our rights as hunters and dog owners. His health has dwindled to an extent but his love for our sport and way of life has not changed! He has been a great friend and partner through the years!

Abell Mattingly of Calvery, Kentucky 1941-2006 RIP. The best dog man i knew. And the man that got me started in this sport. he could take a pup someone else said was a cull and have that pup bustin a hole in the dark and gettin treed all by him self with the meat in just a month or so. seen him do this more times than i could count.

He was for sure a good man. A harder hunter there wasn't. He loved starting a pup better than anyone I have ever known. When the dogs weren't performing up to par it was hard for him to go in. He always wanted to end all hunts with the dogs looking good. So there were many mornings I would come in take a shower and go to work. He forgot more about coon dogs than I will ever know.

Grandpa- Russell Hunt (RIP) always BSin, cutting up and tellin stories
Dad- Tom Gideon, best chauffeur and rarely serious either
Jim Chaffins (RIP) Learned what a real good coon dog was capable of and got lots of good advice.

There are MANY more I've enjoyed MANY hunts with (still hunt with) and learned from but these are the first few that got me going pleasure and competition.

to be honest i have to say the best coon hunter i ever hunted with was a mixed up blackandtan dog i had when i was a teenager.he showed me what a real coon dog was supposed to be and taught me alot. i think i learned more from that dog about coon hunting then any man i ever hunted with.

I hunted many a night with Timothy Ball and always enjoyed hunting with him.
James Merchant and Guy Orminston...it was a honor. The one I enjoyed hunting most with though was Bob Gaither. Gaither would cut way too many dogs loose but it was alot of fun. RIP Mr Gaither
