i bought a Crossman nitro venom dusk.
its pretty long n heavy. trigger pulls pretty hard too.
been tryin to sight it in. regular pellets seem to fly all over n the red tails work good but a lot of them the red tip falls out.
the scope doesn't respond very well to adjustments. got it pretty close now. they say they take some time to get broke in. ??
after shootin some birds n chipmonks not sure it would do the trick on a coon. some of the higher dollar one might.
its a .177

Go to Walmart and get the ruger they have. It comes with a 4x32 scope and is a nice outfit. Its quiet as a mouse. Shoots hard and gets the job done. Best decision iI've made in a while. Also its only 119. Only draw back is its as heavy as a regular rifle.

Got the whisper myself and I'm not impressed with the results. I've asked the same question you are half of these guys love em the other half hate em. I can say that I tried it and wasn't pleased with the large grouping, poor fps without pba ammunition and severe lack of penetration. Get ya a .22 and shoot me a pm I can sell ya a brick

ruger

im with hoosier on this one go buy the ruger air hawk at wal mart buy ya couple things of the premier pellets an shoot shoot shoot and shoot some more....iv heard it takes about 500 to 1000 and id agree it does take some breaking in. but once you do you'll be surprised what you can do with them....you wont consistently shoot moa groups but myself and a friend of mine (who has a whisper or silent cat cant rememeber) consistently kill birds at 50 60 yards....iv witnessed with my own eyes gophers shot at 30 40 yards and dead as a nail within 3 feet. but yes they are heavy to carry around.... I cannot attest to weather or not they would be good for coon...

had the SAME problem with my nitro venom dusk, not accurate for anything, the best one ive ever seen is the WALTHER TALON MAGNUM, IT'LL SHOOT THROUGH A ROAD SIGN AT 60 YARDS FLAT SHOOTING!
