RQE Question

what is the ruling on showing in 2 concerning top 10 pts and wins toward gr.

Posted by Ky Show Girl on 07-04-2013 06:47 PM:

wow 100 views and nobody knows

Posted by josh on 07-04-2013 07:19 PM:

The better answere is probably "100 views and no one cares".

technically you can show in as many RQEs as you want and the points count towards the next title and top ten. The only thing that doesn't count is Purina Points, you can only win those once at an RQE.

Yep Peggy is correct...
you can show in as many as you choose just only one set of Purina points can be awarded...

So if you showed at them you would take the RQE win away from someone if you beat them?

I was told by UKC that you can show at as many RQEs it takes to get qualified but once a dog is qualified that particular dog may not compete in any more RQEs for the rest of the year.. Maybe an official can chime in..

This is what I was told as well. That you can only qualify each dog once. There's no limit to how many different ones u can qualify either just once u win your done with that particular dogs.

If u think about it its just not right to keep showing especially if its already qualified and your not planning on taking the dog anyway. You are just knocking someone else out that would take their dog.

UKC said thats why they dont allow you to keep entering a qualified dog..

As of the 2011 UKC Rule Book. Page 99. Rules for UKC Nit Hunt and Bench Show Championship. Rule # 10. Then go to page 104. Rule # 7. This rule states there is no limit to how many RQE's you can enter a dog to qualify, however, Rule 10 on page 102 states once qualified, you cannot enter the same dog in another RQE. It has always been my understanding that once qualified you are finished with that dog concerning RQE's.. show or hunt...Paul or Allen??? Imput??

There is no limit as to how many times you show a dog in a RQE. You can show (and win) as many times as you want. The wins count towards the 5 wins to Grand a dog out. The points count towards Top 10. And, I'm pretty sure if the same dog wins more than one RQE the Purina Points count too...at least it did for one of my dogs last year.

Once a dog is qualified for the hunt, that dog cannot be entered in anymore RQE Hunts. However, you can hunt the dog in as many RQE's as it takes to qualify it. Once one dog is qualified, you can hunt another dog to qualify it. You can qualify as many dogs as you want to hunt.

That makes more sence. They are holding Saluda Coon Dog Days today and its an RQE (bench show) and you can bet your bottom dollar the majority of the dogs showing have already qualified. Thats what didnt make any since.

In regards to the Purina Points...

Page 97 of the Coonhound Rulebook (effective January 1, 2011) states:

"All overall category winners at listed Purina Points Events will receive Purina Points for each win. For example, the Best Male of Show and the Best Female of Show, Champion Male and Champion Female, Grand Champion Male and Grand Champion Female winners will receive Purina Points. More information will be published, along with Purina Series Rules and Policies effective for each calendar year, in COON- HOUND BLOODLINES and listed on the UKC website www.ukcdogs.com at the beginning of each year."

We went to Saluda, but couldn't take much due to poor timing on the part of just about every female I own anyway. Once mine are qualified, they don't go to another RQE, period. I wouldn't feel right taking a win from someone else with a dog I already had qualified, regardless of whether the rules allow it or not.

For what it's worth, I think a lot of people DIDN'T come to Saluda this year for that reason. Along with the semi-nasty weather.

Your dog did not get more than one set of purina pounts at an rqe. You can show at every rqe all year if you'd like, even after you are qualified. Some people have no intention of going to the world and an RQE is just another local show to them.

and the heat and the timing of the show. if the show were earlier it would not be so bad, since its down in that hole that makes it so much worse, just no air flow.

Thats why we stayed home. Cant take the heat so we stay out of the kitchen.
I love the clubs in NC. We support them as often as we can.
