Ever notice how old UKC win pics looked nicer/classier?

Not just UKC but other clubs too. The pictures of the winners always look so poorly done and put together.

I was looking through a great uncles pictures and and books from the late 70s and 80s and it just seemed like so much more thought and people cared about the way they turned out. I will admit UKC is the best of them in that regard.

But go over to the $KC site and look at pictures of winners. It looks like garbage. Why has this changed? I realize some people might not care about a picture, it just crossed my mind.

Times have changed , the reasons most get into the sport now are different ... now to sound too lopsided , but there are more folks now whose pride is in the win and themselves more than in their dog or the hunt... the dog is a means to and end .

It's the same slice of pie as in other sports or society ... you see alot more pics of dogs stacked or in front of a barnwall of hides or just with more depth to soak up when you look at the old mags.

Most now lean on cell phone pics and go through the motions .. of course , good photography is a whole other hobby and profession that is expensive ... but we can still get pics that communicate something about ourselves.

The other kc's winner worry less about it because they have something other than a picture to show for their efforts. Taking the pictures you are over there are more of a nuisance for most of the handlers than anything.

NAscar , Kentucky Derby ... you name it and even money don't diminish the respect for what you rode into the winner's circle.

When you toss your dog aside to grab a trophy or a few bucks ... it don't say nothing about taking pics or the registry .. but it says alot about the kind of sportsman you are.

How so? So because someone isn't worried about taking a picture and is content with the prize they are a bad sportsman? I'm pretty sure you find out what kind of sportsman someone is in the 2 hours before the picture taking and I don't think anyone said a word about tossing a dog aside... It is nice to know that the sportsmanship police are on patrol though.

a lot of pictures are taken by cell phone. it's handier then packing a camera around.

Yup , but in the end ... your work ethic and the quality of anything and everything touch reflects on you .. not the fact that you hunt for money or use a cell phone .

You can't use a microwave and still call yourself a chef and expect folks to brag on your food ...

Technology is great ... but when it becomes a crutch , by definition it means you're a cripple.

In PKC they take a pic of every cast in most big hunts. They take a pic of all added purse hunts and some open events. They post the casts on the web before they go to the woods, do play by play in the woods and take a pic of the winners before most wake up. They may not be professional pics but if you don't have a hunt off who knows who the real winner is so some of the pkc pics are done in the middle of the night between rounds.
The pics may not be classier but there are more pics made and more info posted a whole lot faster on the PKC board.
That's not bashing UKC it is just a fact.

i'm sure that's true if your trying to be a professional photographer. But the smaller hunts nobody is going to hire a pro to take pics.

No need to exaggerate like only hiring a pro will get you good pics .... it takes a little time working with a dog and only a few minutes with even a decent camera to get a good pic ...

When you see a poor pic in 2013 it's not because we don't have decent cameras or camera-phones ... don't know how to take one or can't figure out how ... those are all horrible and ficticious reasons .

The old timers didn't have our cameras or hire pro's to get pics ... they just had a better work ethic and that time put in produces pride in yourself and dog .

It don't bother me if a guy don't care about getting a good pic .. but I don't need to be sold a bunch of excuses about it either .

I guess it boils down to you keep worrying about what the pictures look like and ill keep worrying about what it takes to get one taken.

If I wasn't worried about what a picture looked like , I wouldn't take it in the first place .. but I am not worried about what yours looks like if you're happy with em' ... but , it's 2013 whether you like it or not and getting a good pic is so easy ...even a coonhunter can do it , lol.
