help?

why would anybody want a dog to hunt 100 yard fence rows ......get him titled in backyard cheat hunts and then call that hound a coondog?????

Maybe small spots is all they have to hunt. I dont know but around here its getting harder and harder to get permission to hunt places and I like my dogs to work small places not blow through them. Now 100yds is too small but at the same time guys talking about their dog going 3 miles to hit a track well no thanks for me because if my dog went 3 miles he would be crossing roads and other peoples property. I guess its your prefernce and where you hunt to what kind of dog you like. As for the backyard cheat hunts I dont competition hunt so cant comment on that part. But if you go out with a dog and it consistantly puts coons up trees wether it be 100yds or 3 miles I would call it a coondog.

coming from an honest person id have to say thats a fair enough answer...............i just started comp. hunting a little bit ....and it seems to me [some] of these guys will go through some complicated schemes to get their dog titled and then advertise as if they have a coondog,i just dont understand the pleasure in that.....ive got a lot of shoe leather in my hound he dont slick [he may be wrong]but he dont slick,he wont bark at hole in ground ,im out in a comp hunt last night [its slick after slick] nobody says anything about it .......then we walked every bit of 50 yards of the 100 yard fence row the guid took us to and there is the dogs treeing in a hole/ again they acted like noproblem on to the next fence row...........that is not a coondog...in my opinon
