New breed?

I hear talk sometimes of people wanting crosses being official breeds and wanting to make new breeds, I think we have enough breeds and they should stay the same but if you made a new breed what would you mix and what would you call it ?

I would mix Bluetick and Walker. Then i would call it the 2012 Spring Super Stakes Champion.

LOL!!! Outlaw you know i'm in favor of a New Breed that i hope will be called "Cross-Bred". No disrespect intended to any of the great breeds we already have in place.

Haha you quoted me before I edited it to what I meant it to be. But yeah I do think that cross breeds should be able to compete in hunts if it'll tree a coon its got a right to be in a hunt

It has no right to be in a hunt. By UKC rules they should never have been bred in first place. Good dogs in all breeds, they were seperated in past for a reason. Breed your top hound to other top hounds of you breed.

Why don't you post the pedigrees of a couple of your dogs on here. I would bet somewhere back in there there is a cross or two that maybe some of these old timers could enlighten you with a little of their knowledge about the crosses that led to the dogs you are hunting. I would wager that not all of them where 100% pure crosses. In my opinion the people who are the most against hunting against crossbreeds are just scared of that powerful hybrid vigor. The problem however is that when you cross two breeds you very often get outstanding offspring but those same outstanding dogs very rarely reproduce anything even close to themselves.

You know i have heard more than once that Cross-Breds don't usually reproduce well. I'm no big time breeder or anything like that, but i have managed to keep the same bloodline going since 1984. Just from my personal experience on the dogs i've had, each generation has gotten alittle better each time. To me, that's about all you can ask for when breeding any line of dogs.

I believe you can hunt cross breed dogs in another registry just not UKC. My opinion is just leave it alone there's enough breeds with plenty of good dogs in each.

I respect your vote Mr. Al. You will never get an arguement from me saying that there are not plenty of good dogs in every breed. For one reason or the other Cross-Breeding has seemed alittle taboo for alot of people. In my eyes i feel like i'm getting the best from two different worlds.

just like always there is a bluetick hunter fussing about cross breeding hunt what you guys want to but ill hunt what wins even if that means crossing a walker x bluetick what really gets on my nerves is the people that reg full blooded then try to lie bout it and stud there dog out on here if there crossed up i would prolly breed to it quicker if they didnt lie

Cross Breds sure win a whole lot of money in Pkc. Ukc is a purebred registry and not only for coonhounds. That is why Pkc will always be the premier coo hunting registry. Pure, crossed up or cur hunt them all together and see who takes the money slip

If soooooo many folks wanna hunt these half breeds. I say let em. Open up a grade dog class again. Wouldn't bother me any. Might bring a few hunters out but I doubt it.

Yeah I don't have a problem with anyone hunting cross bred hounds. I just don't think UKC is the stage for it. They're a dog registry not a coon hunting club. The original post said about registering cross breeds as their own breed I believe.

Sounds like someone is deathly scared of getting beat by a cross-bred hound.
