Average Price For....
C-SECTION
This saturday I had to rush my dog to the vet, and was quoted at $2700 on the bottom side and up to $3700 for on the high side but wouldn't be anymore! I knew it wouldn't be cheap to do and that it was at 11 at night and a weekend and the only place near me I could goto! So Sunday morning rolls around didn't hear nothing so I called them. The Vet says im sorry we were a little off on our quote you are now sitting at atleast another $1000 more than we thought, the dog wasn't doing as good as we hoped!!! At this time im PISSED even more. I don't have this kinda money just sittin around, and they want there money on pickup, well I had to apply for a loan and pay $4,627.20! Heck they wouldn't even throw in any LUBE! I have talked around to my buddies and heard average prices and want to know what range you were in! Please be respectful on your posts, I know what most people would have done, but this one has been good to me!
Thats crazy high

Wow.Hate to hear you had to go through that. Some of them vets will really hurt ya and not even bat an eye.Goodluck with them pups.
Good luck with the pups... That is a little step I think. Had one of my dogs legs taken off for only $200.00 and stayed there two days... WOW thinking that is high.
C-Section
I had to get one last year. After the proceedure they put her in a crate, still asleep, with a basket of puppies. When she woke up she killed the pups, this was her third litter and she just had another and that was the only time she did that. I blamed them but it didnt do any good but they quoted me $400 and didnt try and raise it. Sorry about your bad luck. I would call very vet in the state and get quotes and if they are way lower hand it to a lawyer. Sometimes all it takes is a letter from a law firm and they straighten out. Im sure it would be pretty reasonable to have them send a letter too.
c-section
Here it runs around $500 and the vet will fix so no more pups its the only way he will do it.

I had a C-section done Plainview 6 years ago and it cost me $210.
Obviously some vets are taking advantage of folks.

Josh- it was in oakdale,mn. and it was clearly a yuppie vet! she had 15 pups in her, and 10 are living. my goal wasn't at all to make a bunch of money on this, just wanted a pup off her incase anything happened...and this is a prime example of when things can go real bad lol! But she is now living the good life inside the house with me!
Wow Man they didnt use any Lube! I think they threw a little sand in there. Yeah usally about 200 to 500 should take care of it.
Veterinary ER
ER is always going to cost more than veterinary day practice, I can only tell you the average price where I work for a Csection with no problems with 12 hours hospitalization is $1500-2000. Did they have a board certified surgeon come do the surgery? That could make the cost go up. You said she had complications, I guess it depends what kind? Did she almost not make it out of surgery?
I can only explain how we do things here in Va. Beach, we give the owners an estimate for surgery and hospitalization, bloodwork, I.V. fluids, etc, and we usually have a low end and a high end of the estimate depending on these costs. We have the owner agree to the charges, but it is only an estimate, BUT.....we always call the owner if the charges are going to exceed the estimate. I am in now way defending the said ER, that is a lot of money for anyone to fork out unexpectedly. I am just trying to give another perspective that I have seen. Fifteen puppies is a lot! I hope the ones that survived do well for you.

I have gotten seriously high estimates from vets before. I reply by this is a working dog and it isn't worth that much; I can't afford any thing over $xx.00 so forget about it. Each and every time the vet quickly changes their tune.
I refuse to help a vet pay for their student loans or a new building especially after a yuppie vet tells me that I my treeing walker is a rare breed.
Anyway, at least you got puppies. The last two c-sections I had to have done didn't yield any pups. Pups were dead before the procedure. Each time it cost me about $300.00.

Wife pays around 600 if one of her foo foo dogs {poms} needs a c section, that from her personal vet, We checked around a few times and after hours ER vets were $1200 and up. Sounds like yours started charging by the number of pups. Do you know why she needed the section? They get jammed up ?

WTF...
You got taken but I've been there. Your standing around and you've got to make a decision or else and there you go...
Those city-vets make me mad!
Don't tell Chief about that one you'll send him over the edge.
At least you got a good load to pick from, glad she's alright.

My vet (West Liberty Veterinary Clinic) charges anywhere from $250-500 that includes complications, hospitalization, and anything else, I couldn't imagine having to go to another vet. One of the vets is a hound hunter, so he is very understanding. Him, the other vets, along with the rest of the staff are top of the line. Sorry for your inconvience, sadly there is alot of crooked vets out there that could care less, and just want your $$$$$!
