Im needing some help
I have been trying to train my dog to stand on a bench and be still. He is very capable of being a good one but idk how exactly to train him. I know how he is supposed to look and all but he wont stay still. He does pretty well when there is nothing going on but distractions make him move all over the place. When he moves his head to the left or right I try to move it back so he is looking foward but he seems to wont to cow down. If you could help me in any way please reply. Trust Me I need some tips.
I pop mine in head if they wont stand still. I usaually grab under chin. I have seen people have the carpet strips with little spikes down on front . this will help dogs stand on toes. I not a pro on this. My dog just was a natural.

Any advice for the man, I dont know much but shared what I could. Please do same.
usualy a pop on the head will work, but if your dog is the least bit timmid, it will cower. try a hot dog in front of his nose. I personaly will grab under the chest between the front legs and squeeze. this will atomaticaly make the dogs head go out forward. just hold him that way until he stays still for a bit and then pet him. Repeat, Repeat, Repeat. consistancy and patiants are a must. once you get the head the tail will probably present problems. for this I will pull the hair on the under side of the tail in the downward direction, which is the wrong way for the hair to want go. It will cause your dog to raise their tale. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys
So when yall "poppin " on his head do you pop him under the head so he raises it up? Or do you pop him on top to lower his head? Or maybe on the side to straighten his angle out? just asking what really works? As to the mans question just keep working with your dog. He either will steady or he just doesnt have it. There are plenty of videos on you tube that shows how to steady a dog.
