Sportmix Wholesomes Dog Food

Anyone have any experiance with this food? Seems compareable to Diamond Naturals in ingrediants and fat/protien/calories. No corn/wheat/soy.. I can actually get a 40# bag for cheaper than the Diamond Naturals, it's $27.99 for 40# vs $29.99 for 40#

I am looking for a decent cheap food. I almost lost 2 dogs from th last batch of Diamond I fed back in December. I switched over to a real good food called Preceise Foundation. It's gone up in price from $39.99/44# to $44.99/44# since December... Too much. I will not feed Diamond again with all the recalls. I can't afford another Vet bill, and the chance that just cause they didn't die, that I might not still be poisioning them with bad food.

That looks like a good food and it is a good company.

Take a look at PMI Exclusive Maroon Bag, SportMix Black Bag, Loyall, Red Flannel Prime....

I fed sport mix for years, no trouble with it but the price went up twice in one year. I feed hunters choice, same stuff, $21.50 for 50lb. bag. Only thing about it is the nuggets are small and dogs that gulp their food sometimes gag and hack it up ... but they love it.

I can't find any recall info on them that's a bonus. And like I said it appears to be similar to Diamond Naturals without the risks associated with the company. The place I get food and just started working at only carries the Wholesomes no other Sportmix product.

I was looking at Fromm Classic at $29 for 33# it has most calories at 404/cup. I am liking the reputation that the Whole Earth Farms foods have and it has a lot of Salmon oil in it but its $35 for 35#. May as well stick with Precise at $1 a pound.

I feed it (sports mix wholesome) and my female is doing good on it. I don't have to feed as much. I feed the chicken, a buddy and I got to doing some compairing and it has the same back label as native level 3, I'm pretty sure it was level 3, other than the fish meal, the wholesome chicken didn't have it. She is good and tight, not fat, good muscle tone, doesn't drink as much water, and doesn't seem to heat up to fast. I'm liking it so for.

Fromm Classics, Whole Earth Farms and Precise Foundation are good but they are low protein and fat, more for pets.

PMI Exclusive is made by Precise and the Performance formula (purple bag) at 30/20 is much better. It runs $.80lb for a food with high protein and fat. PMI sells direct to the feed stores that is why it is such a bargain. If they didn't that food would be priced like Pro Plan, in fact the current PMI formula is the old Pro Plan before Nestle cheapened it up. PMI stands for Purina Mills, the old red checker board line of foods. Nestle sold it off when they bought Purina.

Its great food and easy to get. Surprised more people on here don't use it.

I also feed the Sportmix Stamina 24/18. Tractor supply here just started carrying the Sportmix Wholesomes.
