My 10 yo working her B & T ( she wants advice)

My daughter is wanting to start showing Conway. She asked me to post this here to get advice on what she needs to work on with him.

i know absolutely nothing about showing a dog but id start out with a bench the size they use at the shows.

For starters it is GREAT 2 see kids doing this! An bout the only thing I c she needs 2 do is get him up on his feet an line his legs up better! Other than that she doin a great job lookin good! Good luck hun an keep up the good work!!

if she don't have another bench that will work. she needs to try to get him up on his toes, make sure his feet are even from side to side. Keep his front legs straight under the body up and down, stretch the hind legs to get the stifle straight up and down. It may help her to put his back feet right on the edge of the bench so he is on his back toes. She looks like she is haveing fun, thats what it's about! Keep up the good work, thats a nice looking dog.

Yeah have to make a regulation size for them. Just got the measurements. She is loving it. My 6 yo is working with a english female. She said thank you so much for yhe help

My 6 yo with her english dog. She cant use a table yet. She isnt tall enough to hold the dog lol.

The main thing she can do is have fun...great to see youth wanting to be involved in the hound world.

Here's a thought for both of the girls...

I found an aluminum scaffolding type bench for my grand daughter at Lowes..I think Home Depot has them too....
I got it for her when she was 5. She is now 8 and still uses it.

They are made similar to the fold up show benches, but are in a smaller version. There is a small gap between the top aluminum runners, but they are not far enough apart to hinder the dog from stacking. I got some sand paper sticky runners to put on mine to keep the feet from slipping.

It's super light weight and folds up and fits in the back of the truck to take anywhere. Aimee Jo loves hers!!

A youth handler has Bens Creek Southern Rebel that John Boyter showed, trained and turned over to me. I hear people talk about that child and Rebel all over the state! Love to watch them show!!!

they have the red fern festival every april but have a few hunts through the year. go to front page of ukc, then hunting dogs-coonhounds. look to left of page and find upcoming events, it will take you to another page and you can search hunts by state

try turning the dogs head and shift its wait to one side and setting each front foot learn to use the dogs weight is going

MBR1988 there are clubs in claremore, adair, wyatts, and we have one starting in fairland and we have a club in wyandotte about hour and 15 min. north of you. find some local hunters around you and start a club there around tulsa i know a couple of hunters that would come and hunt there.
