nite hunt question
This happened the other night. Three dog cast. Dogs a,b,c all struck in. Dogs A and B are declared treed . Dog c is obviously in the general area of the other two but never called treed. 5 mins is up and we head in. A and B are split treed 50 yards apart. Both have a coon. Dog C is in the general area trailing around but never trees. Shouldn't he get minused and how much since it was a split tree?
If dog C never came into either tree to be handled his strike continues on and after scoreing the trees the other 2 dogs would have to be recast to dog C.

Dog C continues his track..no minus.
Score both trees...when dog C opens A and B mist be cut loose..
One of my biggest peeves of nite hunts is drawing out a dog that won't tree....sets up time and ruins the score...but nothing you can do about it...sometimes the handler will catch them and taken their minus on track (which technically I think isn't allowed). Usually the 8 will never get em as they usually bark all night long...you gotta turn back into them and every coon in ear shot climbed so tracks are old and often the coons went for the dens...

tree
He was trailin around right at the trees we were scoring jus back an forth back an forth. Wasn't goin any where. I figured if there was a coon seen and he wouldn't tree on either one jus millin back and forth he should be minused. It would be different if he was taking the track somewhere.
Till he trees and is declared treed or the stationary gets him or comes into a tree while its being scored and judge says handle it there isn't anything that can be done....tough break and propably ate up a lot of time and made for a crappy hunt and low score...
I've sat on the same stump for the entire 2 hours on a registered cast because a dog did that...mine treed a coon and a den ...we were in a tiny woodlot and "couldn't" leave to find another one..one dog never treed and boohooed all night long...
Don't know why guys take dogs like that to hunts...won't tree its own coon...won't tree with other dogs...

A dog like that sure can foul up a cast.

yea
Sure can. We were in a small patch of woods. Pretty crappy night . But sure was proud our dogs held that split with all the commotion. Tough break I guess.
