Frozen Semen Ownership Question

I have a question for Todd or Alan or someone from UKC. What is the process when someone owns Frozen Semen from a hound and they want to raise a litter of pups from it?

I know of some frozen semen where numerous people own straws of it.

So do you just sign a stud certificate from the semen you own Or do you have do provide something to prove your ownership of the semen you are using?

Just curious.

GOOD QUESTION

I WAS WONDERING IF YOU HAD SEMEN DRAWN AND THEN WHO OWNS THE SEMEN ? AND DOES THE OWNER OF THE SEMEN REGISTER THE LITTER AND IF THE MALE IS PERFORMANCED DOES THE PRESENT OWNER RECIEVE THE BENEFIT OF THE POINTS ON THE OFFSPRING ?

Good question.
On the litter reg form, step 2 ask "sire registrant/signatory".
When I filled mine out, I called and was told that since I owned the semen, I was the registrant/signatory and that is how I have always filled them out. I hope that is right or I have registered a bunch wrong.

I always wondered if more then one person has frozen semen from a dog and uses it to breed a female, who pays the performance fees on the stud dog? I bought a female that was a semen pup (sire was deceased) that was both PP and SS. Person that owned the semen did not own the stud dog and had purchased the semen a few years before.

Either the sire is paid up our it isn't. It makes no diff who owns it or who paid it up. Anyone can pay up any sire and then it is paid up for anyone who breeds to it that year.

For a more accurate answer you can contact Russell over on the Registration board. I will give you the short answer, though.

On the litter app there is the question: "Was frozen semen used?" If you answer yes, and you are the owner of the semen, you put yourself down as the owner of the sire/semen at time of breeding.

The way it was explained to me is, if you bought the semen (aka paid the stud fee) YOU are the owner of the semen, therefore, you are the owner and can sign it as so on the papers
