I think most associations have about the same benefits namely, being a productive member and helping promote and improve the breed.
Every association gives out high scoring dog trophies at most major events (including other breed days events).
Every association has a yearbook. The B&T yearbook is hardbound, not paper back. The Yearbook for the American Leopard Breeders Association is 100% in color.
About all of them have some type of invitation-only hunt at the breed days for winners of the sectional. At B&T Days it is called the Memorial hunt. You participate in either the Youth Hunt, Pup Derby, or all-black RQE on Thursday and they mark the memorial dogs and award special trophies just for them. Plus all of them except the Walker association have a separate hunt for anyone to participate in on the same night making it available to more members.
Again about all of them have some type of "dog of the year" award. I know if you win it from the National Plott Hound Association they put you & your dog's picture on the back of the membership cards the next year.
I think just the Walker Association and B&T Association have an incentive for winning the World Hunt. The Walker Assn is $5,000 if you hunted at Walker Days. The B&T Assn gives you $10,000 if the owner and handler are members of the association whether you hunted at B&T Days or not. And if you don't win and are high-scoring dog of the UKC World and best B&T at the show you get 10% of whatever is in the incentive fund. I think last years winners may have got like $1500 or something. Not bad.
Here's the truth: every breed association is out for the betterment of their breed. They sponsor breed days events, sectionals, championships, trophies at major events, etc. They are all doing the best they can and need our support.
Also consider this before jumping on another breed association other than the one you support: we are all in this together. Yes, we all like to hunt a different breed and support a different association but we are all in this fight together to maintain the heritage of coon hunting as we know it. We can disagree about what breed to hunt but we all still have to work together.
