Black & Tan Days RULES ----YOUTH HUNT INFO

Youth Hunt Rules

1. Change the total hunting time in all youth hunts to 90 minutes. This change has recently been added to the UKC Rules and was used in our youth hunts at 2012 B&T Days. In the Thursday all B&T Youth Hunt change the time that each participant will carry the score card and judge the cast to 90 minutes divided by the number of participants in the cast. 4 cast members – 22.5 minutes each, 3 cast members – 30 minutes each, 2 cast members – 45 minutes each.

2. Require all youth participants in all hunts sponsored by the ABTCHA to have access to a fully charged, functional mobile telephone which they may use to contact their parents or guardians and hunt officials in the event of of an accident or other emergency. Hunt officials shall provide their telephone number to all participants before they leave the club house. In accordance with UKC rules, participants in all hunts who are 13 years of age or under must be accompanied by an adult.

3. Require that at least two adults (guide, monitor, guardian, judge, spectator or a chaperone assigned by the ABTCHA be present with each cast at all times during all youth hunts.

4. Require that the adult chosen to serve as the mentor for a young person seeking to become qualified for the Youth Scholarship Hunt be either the young person's parent or legal guardian or a person, approved in writing on the ABTCHA Scholarship Application and Mentor Certification Form, by the parent or legal guardian.

5. Those assigned to be guides for all youth casts should be responsible persons who will take their casts to local areas near the Black and Tan Days headquarters. Youth casts should not be sent to satellite clubs or required to travel long distances to the hunting locations.

6. Anyone who becomes aware of any inappropriate behavior toward any youth participating in activities sponsored by the ABTCHA shall immediately inform the proper local law enforcement agencies of the alleged inappropriate behavior.
