Question?
I have a young dog that I am hunting he runs track great and will get by himself , but the problem I am having is he isn't treeing real good if its a hot track that I hit off a bucket he tree ever breath but if it isn't he will run the track but won't tree with the other dogs . What should I do?
Single him out away from bucket. JMHO
I have a similar pup. She seems to run track good but has yet to tree. I'm just going to hunt her until it finally clicks.
Find the coon if you can and encourage or "talk the pup" in to treeing...
Pups lack confidence... a lighted collar helped me a lot with my pup last winter...I'd stay close behind him and when he was tracking I'd watch him..a lot of times he'd bump a tree...I'd shine it and find the coon and be there to encourage him and get him lookin up...didn't take many trees and he was doing it himself...now a year later at a few weeks shy of 2 years old good luck getting him off a tree lol...
He was started and hunted 100% alone...he learned to hate a coon and that coons climb and treeing them is fun the first and only time I showed him a caged coon...
In find no shame in helping a pup out so long as they put forth the effort...
