Random thought generated by boredom
So where did the old "bring your dog up here and we will hunt for $100 a coon" come from?
Has anyone ever actually done it or is it just another cliché that folks like to use?
I always find it interesting that the challenger wants the other dog to come to his home turf, never do you see some one say they will take their dog to others place to hunt it off.

I don't know where it came from but back in the late 70's I know a guy that had a dog called Whitefoot. Looked like a hightan black dog with a white foot. Well the owner was sitting in a bar one night and a couple of guys come in with some pretty high powered Walker dogs from the area. Season was in and it was late, Frost was thick and the owners of the walker dogs hadn't treed a coon all night. The guy that owned whitefoot told them he would go to the same timber they just came from and tree coons on the outside for $100.00 a coon. For every tree he made that didn't have a coon he owed them $100.00. They took him up on the offer. Low and behold the owner of Whitefoot was $300.00 richer when the left the woods a couple of hrs later.
True Story.
