Hunting Pregnant Females
What are your thoughts on hunting pregnant females? Would you hunt one in certain hunts or just hold off on hunting her until after the pups are weaned?

Hunt em' until they can't jump on the tailgate anymore ... alot of them old hounds and curs ran loose and hunted with pups and while nursing pups ...
Lovis I hunted Star hard until she had em. The night before she had her last litter I treed 3 coons with her. She was so big she couldn't get up on the tree but she was still all business.

hunt her.i always heard it makes the pups better.something about picking up on the adrenalin flow of the female.
Lovis, I won a buddy hunt with Reject and Blackie a couple of weeks before she had her litter. Maybe her pups will win all their buddy hunts.lol

hey lovis, hope the everything is going well with the hound dogs!!!
i wouldnt be afraid to hunt any female until they get real big and i feel the exercise and everything is great for them. a guy does have to be careful if you got pups spoken for and all that so when its hot out i "try" not to let dogs over due it. LOL.
my 8 year old female has had 3 litters and each litter has got bounced around her belly and pile of miles put on without any problems with pregnancy.
all my pups were give aways to hide and meat hunters that i know so didnt worry much. if you got guys with deposits on pups id be way more careful!!!
good luck and happy hunting, matt.

Do what you want to but I wouldnt hunt her. I had a female bred to Hobos Hoss one time and hunted her one night a couple hours, the next day she aborted all but one pup. I raised several litters with her before and after and never had any trouble except that one time. That was the only time I ever hunted her bred too.

If they were being hunted before they were bred, I keep right on hunting them until they are too big to get around.
If they are likely to prolapse or have some other health issue that would prevent hunting, then they probably shouldn't have been bred, in the first place. jmo.

The female I had never had any prolapse or health issues. There is a risk hunting a bred female so why gamble with it.jmo
