dizz is out

went to the vet today.dizz is ok but his leg is stiff when he first gets on it in the morning.after he stretches his leg seems to be fine.he can run jump and do all he wants to do.
the down side.
i can only hunt him 2 times a week for now on.this really sux having a fine 2 year old competion dog and i cant hit the hunts like i want to.
i can hit 1 2 hour hunt a week and pleasure hunt him 1 night a week.i cant hunt him over 2 or 3 hrs a night.

Mike I had the same problem about 6 mon back, backed off like you are doing and after about 30 days things got back to normal sounds like a muscle strain rub it down morning and night with some type of icey hot for dogs and carry him in back of truck on a tie out instead of dog box that seem to help mine not get stiff before you cut him. good luck

Dizz has been down for a month.i gave him anti inflamatorys and pain meds.then i started him on adequin 2 weeks ago.it has helped him out but he will never be 100% again.i was going to go for the world hunt with him.back to the drawing board.

lee i plan on making it.
im going to finish him to nt ch so i can breed him. i need 2 wins.he already has his first.i can still put that htx title on him.
he is tough.a few months from now it might not bother him at all.i have seen Black dogs come back from alott worse injurys.
i need some one to lay a good superstaked female on me.i got the competition bug pretty bad.

he messed up the tendons and ligimates in one of the joints in his leg and dislocated his shoulder.
he still treed the coon.
i hunted him to hard.we where getting ready for an rqe.i hunted him 38 hrs and drove 5 or 6 hundred miles hauling him cross country in 6 days.the last night we hunted.he was working a coon up a bluff.i got him of a tree at the top of the bluff.Dizz had some hide missing on his leg.the only thing i can figure is he fell trying to get up it.

I wouldnt get too discouraged just yet. Jr broke his leg in 3 places and he got back to 100% in about 3 or 4 months.

i might get lucky with some time.i wont quit on him.for some reason Robert has his panties in a wad and he is forgeting who his friends are.it dosent look like i will be able to get another pup out of dog.right now im doing everything the vet has told me to do.he seems ok.he is coming out of the dog house in the morning like its stiff.a little stretching and you cant tell he was ever hurt.im hunting him tonight and i will see how he is tomorrow.the vet told me 2 or 3 hours hunting is max on him right now.

i wish he would slow down some.but it aint happening.he hunts hard with or without company.he has a good pace.i now he is into when he is moving 11 miles an hour by that garmin.i love when he opens and that garmin goes to reading 18 to 20 mph.

thanks for all the concern every one.this injury has had me pretty tore up.i couldnt get a bad dog killed hunting on a 4 lane hwy.but a good dog seems to have something happen to them all the time.

Mike you can give Dizz some Deramaxx or Rymidil for pain it will do wonders for him but done hunt him yet.

it has been 5 weeks since his injury.i gave him some anti inflamatory and pain killers for 2 weeks.i put him on adequin at the recomendation of the vet.he has been on lite exercise for the last 2 weeks.i was told to go ahead and hunt him 2 to 3 hrs and see how he is the next day.the vet isint concerned that he has a little soreness.she said so long as he dosent start limping and holding it up we are ok.so im hunting him tonight.so i can see how he is tomorrow.if he is ok.i will lay him up and hunt him again friday or saturday night.if he needs longer i will lay him up again for a while.
this adequin is suposed to be the only proven drug to work on joint repair and maintenance.they use it in race horses.the first month of it is $300 for 2 viles.he has to have 2 shots a week for a month.then it drops to 1 shot a month.

hunted him 1 hr and 20 minutes last night.he got up this morning a little sore but he wasnt holding his leg up or limping on it.im gonna lay him up a few more nights and then i will try again.
