ivermectin
i yous ivercare its a horse wormer and has 1.87% ivermec in it
the question is has any one heard that ivermec makes dogs sterile
horse IVERMECTRIN is just ivermectin, its the same.
no one has had this problem or has heard of this
No papers I have Ever read mentioned anything as a Side Effect being Sterility..
That whole tube .21 oz of Ivercare has a Total of 113.00 mg of Ivermectin. For the Treatment of Horses up 1,500 #
So how much do you need to use on a 50# dog ??

I find it easier using Durvet Apple Ivermectin Paste. 1,250lbs horse weight.
Why?
The tube is metered every 50lb of horse weight. The others are 250lbs that I have seen. I don't know how Ivercare is metered.
So I use ONE metered click for all my dogs, 55lbs to 95lbs. There are 25 clicks in the tube.
It is about 4,000 MCG's (micrograms)
I know MTH is gonna give me a lecture, and rightly so,But I split a tube of Equimax for 5 dogs, and Ivercare 10 ways for 10 dogs.I also squirt the whole tube out in a dish and stir it before divideing it up in case of seperation.I also use Panucur every 4th time.

Way Back .....
.....when Ivomec was new, I had heard that people thought it was causing sterility problems. Guys that were using injectable cattle ivomec and giving it orally. Hind sight is 20/20. In most cases I think there were other factors for the sterility problems and the Ivomec was just what they saw as a possible excuse.... and it was a common factor among several different breeders in different states at the time.
If it were a factor back then, now most of the genes for Icomec sterility have been weeded out. ;-)

My guess would be a pollutant, possibly an insecticide or pesticide or one of the other gazillion polluntants in our world today. Too much ivomec, its just really tough on there liver.
