Superstisions

What are some of your superstisions in dogs

Mine is if the roof of a dogs mouth is black
Its gonna be a tree dog always proved good to me

My pappy always told me to close my eyes and reach in the box and grab one. Well I did that a few times just about as good of odds as any that one could be a coondog. There is no merit to the black mouth dog for me. The most playful one most likely just got up from a nap and the sleeping one prolly played all day. If I'm gonna pick a walker I like the ugly ones! All other breeds I like a big healthy looking one shows he's stronger than the rest IMO but the odds are just as good to put on a blindfold and pick you one up.

My dads was. If he has a curl tail, if he has a long skinny tail, or if his butthole is about the size of a cigarette walk away and look else where...................

My superstitions are : pick a pup based on what you see , not what you hope will change.

A pup that don't like water , runs under the car , fights over food , drops his tail over new scent instead of wagging it the first time he smells game ... etc .. etc ... they grow up into dogs that have the same habits.

They won't outgrow anything , their mouths don't get better , they don't magically overcome phobias ... they don't throw back to your favorite old dog when their momma didn't !

I kept two pups. give my buddy one that had a curly tail. my two got sick and died at 3 mths old! I ended up getting ole curly back from another guy because he just couldnt stand his tail. Pups been treeing coons since 6 mths old!! And oh yea! On his dog!! lol I just pick the pup that catches my eye at the time

I been wearing the same hat for 5-6 yrs until Friday night. I got 2 hats that'll tree a coon now.
