Alpha antenna's ?

Is there any use in even using the long antenna that comes with the Alpha? Does it increase range enough to use it.....anyone know or tried to tell the difference?

Thanks!

In my opinion YES. I have used the folding or 14" flexible antenna for years and you see a difference when hunting with buddies and they loose signal when dogs are over a river bank or one the edges of reception distance and you still have the dogs. To put a number on the distance increase is hard but be beside someone with stock antenna you will see the difference.

If its only a tenth of a mile it is worth it.
The reason why I say this is people have become so intent on not loosing their dog off the screen that when they do they start beating and banging their astro. The start screwing off their antennas and screwing them back on. That shut them off, take the batteries out and put them back in. When all this stuff is doing is leading to more problems.

Thanks for your input Bruce! I bought a long range flexable antenna a long time ago for my Astro 220 and it did just as you say, hunting partner (without it) losing signal more often and before I did. I was just curious with the new Alpha if they were just providing them due to demand with the Astro models or they really extented range....thanks again!

Travis they started providing them about two years ago with the astros and now with Alpha's.

I know I have personally sold thousands of folding and flexible antennas and you take into consideration the other hound supply companies that sold probably more and a bunch have been sold. They do help. At times not to a great extent but every edge you can get helps.
